Poll question: ATTENTION DU: Vote Now For DU Preference! What To Call Bush!
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 12:40 AM by IAMREALITY
This is in respect to senseandsensibility. I think she brings up a great point and interesting question in his thread. But let's hear it DU, what shall we moving forward prefer to call Bush in the 2004 Election And Discussion Forum?

We can still put ANY other adjectives in front of or after the choice, as the choice merely takes the place of Bush. So if you would call him now Resident-Reject Bush, you would then call him Resident-Reject *. :)

21. Post Turtle
Down in Austin, the good folks refer to George W. as the Post Turtle.
As the story goes, you are walking down a country road and you spy a turtle balanced on top of a fence post. You know three things right away, One, the turtle did not get up there by himself, Two he has absolutely no "bidness" up there and Three, he can not get down without some help. So help the Post Turtle.

25. Slurs are juvenile
How about discussing objections to particular policies rather than simply using derogatory names? Calling someone names says more about the speaker/ author than the individual who is the target of the insult. There are plenty of substantive issues with which to critique Bush and others on the right. Using our minds to develop thoughtful critiques will do far more to advance progressive politics.
If people want to be satirical, at least be intelligent and funny about it (like Jon Stewart, for example).

40. Our nickname for * around the house is
Boner. George Carlin has a great riff in the mid-90s about the Gulf War, *'s dad and the name "Bush" being soft, as in describing something close to the genitals without being the genitals. "But if this man's name had been George Boner, we would have gone into Baghdad and blown everybody away!" (paraphrasing slightly)

61. Little Boots
Caligula's nickname, because bush parallels Caligula in so many ways, it's amazing. It also makes fun of bush's habit of wearing shit-kickin' cowboy boots, like he thinks it makes him a real cowboy.

On becoming Emperor, Caligula performed a spectacular stunt. He ordered a temporary floating bridge to be built using ships as pontoons, stretching for over two miles from the resort of Baiae to the neighboring port of Puteoli. He then proceeded to ride his horse across, wearing the breastplate of Alexander the Great. This act was in defiance of an astrologer's prediction that he had "no more chance of becoming Emperor than of riding a horse across the Gulf of Baiae".

Does this or does this not remind you of bush prancing about on the aircraft carrier?
