Now is the time to begin the NEW battle......First..... |
|
First, we need a house cleaning at the DNC/DLC. I am glad I gave my money to MoveOn.org instead as I believe they fought the better fight.
We need to examine the tax exempt status of activist churhes and the religious right, the FCC laws regarding ownership of media, and we should DEMAND the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine. This has been a thirty year concerted effort by the radical religious right to take over our nation, and they have nearly succeeded. We are still HALF of the nation and maybe more (if we knew how the "stay-at-homes" think).
NEVER GIVE UP! We still need to continue to vote, because congressional elections and ballot initiatives are still very important and affect us all. Bush may screw things up so badly that in 2 years, Americans may be begging the Democratic Party take back the Congress. A little more job loss, few more of our kids dying in Bush wars, may be what it takes.
Remember Barack Obama took nearly 90% of Illinois, a state which is nearly 50-50 Republican/Democratic. We need new messengers.

11. Hillary Clinton running for president is just repub propaganda. |
|
It's to paint her as power mad,to divide the party,to take away from her accomplishments in the Senate. The Democratic Party will never run Hillary Clinton for president, and I wouldn't want them to. It's not that I don't like her. It's just that she's been demonized for so many years, and I must admit that she lacks the personal warmth of her husband.

....however Obama took Illinois on less than 90% over a million Illinois morons voted for Keyes....go figure.
What really concerns me is that Kerry only won Illinois by 500,000 votes...I never thought it would be that close.
Cheers, Kim :toast:

4. Haven't we learned in the past 40 years |

that a Northeasterner is unelectable? Even John Kennedy barely squeaked through. John Kerry was a terrible choice (although I'm hard pressed to think of anybody better among the choices we had).

10. Last three Democratic presidents were Southerners.... |
|
LBJ, Carter, and Clinton. NE, Midwestern, West Coast liberals have lost clout.
Kerry wasn't my man as I was torn between Dean, Kucinich, and Wesley Clark. But as always I fought as hard for Kerry as I would any other candidate (except maybe Joe Lieberman). I think Kerry fought a good hard fight. But his sophistication didn't play well with mainstream Americans who squeeze in Jerry Springer, NASCAR, and World Wrestling Entertainment between all day Sunday and Wednesday night church.
Teresa Heinz Kerry was too cerebral and outspoken for many who prefer a stepford wife like little librarian, Laura, who "knows her place" a la St. Paul. We have a cultural war going on in our nation.

That attitute will go a long ways towards "bringing the country together."
You should remember that pendulums swing both ways. Things eventually even out, and words will have to be eaten.
The party in power spun, lied, and scared their way back into office. The American public, sadly, is not capable of discerning this. This "handy" victory you're crowing about still amounts to convincing 3 out of every 100 people that you're right and the other guy's wrong.
The joke will be on all the people who supported this administration and will end up out of a job, out of healthcare and insurance, or sent off to fight in Korea or Iran.

But if we let Bush do his job, we will all be dead in four years.
(and the gall of you to talk about democrat dirty tricks -- coming after the dirtiest campaigns I have lived through almost all coming from the White House.)

12. Taking it back in 2008 |
|
Reading what everyone has written, I take it you all are ready to go at it again. I for one am to tired to contemplate it. As for the next candidate I hope it is someone stronger but I live in a pretty much Democratic county, until last night when the repukes about wiped us out, and I don't believe there is even enough support here for Hillery nor was there eight years ago. They love Bill but not her. I hope to see Obama re energizes the party, because we need it, get rid of Terry Mc Culliff and Get a National party chair that can move people. Ron Brown could do it, Joe Andrews was great at it but Terry sucks at it. But our last best chance at a decent Presidential Candidate went into the water with JFK JR God help us for at least the next four years we are gonna need it. And we cant put all the blame on the Demo party. But a lot of it can land there

will never win again. These people cheat and they do not even care who knows it. We must put all our money into this effort by 2006. There is no way that GWB won Florida or Ohio. There were just too many new Dems in both. This time they were more secretive; they had plenty of time to plan.
