New Petition: Open Letter to the Electoral College (only 322 signatures)

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that you take action as
electors to recognize that the November 2, 2004 presidential election
was fraught with voting violations, misconduct of some highly placed
election officials, voter suppression, interference targeted at
communities of people of color and poor people, and possible tampering
- all of which has raised suspicions in many minds that this was not a
free, fair and honest election.

To preserve democracy in the United States of America, we ask that you
be open to the concerns of large numbers of Americans. Almost 37,000
complaints have thus far been filed about this election process.
Recounts are being demanded in several states. Given the widespread
use of electronic voting machines which are especially liable to
malfunction - and tampering - and leave no trace of how they work nor
what data they receive, it is not possible to perform recounts in many
states. We call on you to review the evidence and decide if there is
sufficient doubt to take what will be for many of you a courageous and
risk-taking action. We are asking you to be our voice.

On or before December 13 when you are pledged to go to your respective
State Houses, please consider doing one or more of the following:

* Call a press conference to announce your concerns about these
allegations.
* Decide as individuals or as a group to use the voting process in
your state to delay, protest and/or highlight the pervasive voting
violations. Examples of what you could do are: abstain from voting
or postpone your vote until investigations are completed, recounts
are finished and tallies corrected, and voter violations remedied.
* If you must vote, make a statement for the official record,
acknowledging the questionable nature of this election."

36. Where do all these petitions go after they collect the signatures?

I'm sure we've all signed quite a few of these petitions on line and there are a great idea. But what happens after they get signed? Is someone responsible, say in this case, for delivering these names to all of the members of the electoral college? Do they get an email with a link to the petition so they can see the 15 million (I can dream, right?) signatures asking them to delay the vote due to fraud? What about the others we've all signed over the past few months? Did those actually get to the person or group that they were about?

AT the point where I have to put in my name and address, I think "hmmm. I wonder who has access to this information or how much it would cost someone to buy it". Because you are correct. Now out there in the internet, are lists which clearly show our interests, our concerns, our political views, etc. I don't feel so concerned with a self contained site like moveon.org (which I truly need to believe would not sell our names because of who they are- ok maybe I'm naive but I have to believe in someone). But these petition on line sites make me wonder....

Basically what they are changing or adding on purpose to discredit it and legit signatures. These were the most common ones I saw there which are being repeated over and over again. That is why I agree with this person that either someone is pulling legit names of the list or they are posting names filled with garbage to make it invalid.

I didn't see what orginally was there so I can not say if they pulled the names. I can say the repeat of this does look like someone is trying to attack or push down real names and information like the troll was trying to do here not to long ago. Luckly we have good moderators who caught them.

Up to 799 now. Regarding an earlier petition, "A Petition to Congress Requesting an Investigation Into the Presidential Election of 2004," I had noticed that there were quite a few comedians who signed that petition also, early on, but as of the latest count there are 53,858 signatures, most of which appear to be legitimate. Could it be that the Freepers are shaking in their boots at this time and that's why they're so rabidly flaming this latest petition? I think they know they've been caught red-handed.
