PROTEST! December 12th, noon - Who's showing up?
On Sunday, December 12th at noon at each capitol across the country, regular folks will protest this election and demand that their electors count every vote before casting theirs. I urge anyone who hasn't already to check out http://www.51capitalmarch.com. Find your state's message board for updates.

Hopefully this will be the beginning to breaking through the media silence. The hearings have begun and now it's time to make OUR voices heard. The important thing is to show up. Make a sign. Bring a friend. We all can agree that this election was suspect.

There may be more or less, as this is coming down to the wire and not all is written in stone. The important thing, again, is to show up. Make a sign. Bring a friend. Keep this topic kicked until noon and get out the word.

If you can't show up, at least you can email the organizations that you're involved with. Most of them have probably already been contacted, but, strangely, a lot of them are remaining silent. Ask them to visit http://www.51capitalmarch.com and inform their members. There are press kits and other tools to make this easier.

I'll be in Austin, Texas with my sign and my friends. I hope you'll join us across the country.

Thank you,

-RYAN JOY

5. Tennesseans will be there -- wearing orange ribbons

Noon, East side of State Capital, Nashville. We've got the State Coordinator for Kerry/Edwards, religious leaders, social scientists and a kennel-ful of rabid-mad "yellow dogs" who will be baying for justice and democracy. Visit the "51 capitals" web-site for more information. Folks are coming from Memphis to Chattanooga -- hoo-haa!!

We'll also be wearing orange and handing out orange ribbons, in solidarity with the Ukrainian people whose fight should inspire all of us. And we'll be honoring our Nashville, TN Guardsman who faced down ole Rummy this week about inadequate armor on Iraq War vehicles. Now let's see if the Tennessee media is interested in filming hundreds of people shouting truth to (illegitimate) power from our State Capital steps.

Some signs that will be at our rally:

"Who won? Who knows?"
"Make every vote count. Really."
"Poll This." (thanks, bradblog)
"No Fair Elections -- No Peace."
"Bush Thinks You're Stupid."

So come on, all you "Volunteer Staters", join us. Time to send Bush back beyond the Red River. I may even wax poetic tomorrow:

This election ain't over.
The vote counting's just started.
Our side is pissed
'cause their side just farted.
So let's pull together
and expose this coup.
We'll hang their Elephant
before this Ass is through.

Peace, out.

31. Some Info on SIGNS from the "51 Capitol March" board...
"Here is the information supplied by the Calif. Highway Patrol who issues the permit for our rally:

Size of signs, posters, placards or banners is limited to 30" in size.

Handles for signs and poster are limited to 1/4" in thickness by 3/4" in width and shall extend no more than 18" beyond a single exterior edge of the sign.

All handles for signs shall be made of wood without exception.

All signs or banners must be hand carried."

http://www.51capitalmarch.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=California;action=display;num=1102569826

I haven't had time to make any signs (it's finals week for me, and my first one was today--ugh), and doubt I will have time in the morning, but the hubby and I are both willing carriers if there are extras. IF I get time in the morning, I'll see what I can do, but it's doubtful because I have other stuff to do with my daughter before the rally tomorrow, too. But hey, WE'LL BE THERE!!!

I volunteered for MoveOn in Franklin Co., OH, from the Sunday before Election Day through Nov. 2. Felt weird to be at the epicenter of it all.

38. We'd love to show,
in our state capital of Salem, OR -- but with snowy passes, a 3 hour drive and two little sleepy girls -- I don't think I'll be able to make the drive from Bend today.

Anyone in Oregon going to this march, can your report back? Better yet, can someone start a thread later dedicated to the 51capitalmarch?

I'm there in spirit!!
