I just returned from the rally in Sacramento and I am totally psyched. So I visit my favorite forum only to find posts such as
We are losing in the Court of Public Opinion
Now I am TOTALLY Bummed. Jon Stewert and Tom Wolfe think ** WON!!!
What is up with that. We are the in court of public opinion, and we need to testify. We can't very well sway them by spreading defeatist messages over the internets. I am hoping that someone at the rally today took notes because there were some big things that were discussed.
One coordinator discussed the issue with Greene county, Ohio. One of the volunteers involved is actually from Sacramento. She said that testimony about the events over the past few days will be part of the lawsuit filed on Monday. A representative from Black Box voting was there to discuss the lawsuit between the State of California and Diebold. One of the California Electors spoke to the crowd. He made a very interesting comment. First he described what they (the electors) were supposed to do, cast their vote for John Kerry and John Edwards. Then he said something along the lines of...that is not necessarily what will happen tomorrow.
The storm is brewing, and it is about to make landfall in a big way. I think it is not a coincidence to see all these defeatist threads out and about. DU, our time is now. Are we going to take this country back?

Is Bev Roberson from Sacramento? Don't know her, just googled & seemed to be her? Being a Californian, it made me proud!!!
Anyway, forget the downer posts, things are very exciting today, and this is gonna be a big week!
Your notes about the remarks by the elector are very interesting! I think there will be a lot of news tomorrow, huh?

OP mentioned that one of the volunteers involved in the Ohio 'lock down' this weekend was a Sacramento local.

4. Here's a thread of peoples' protest experiences today |

Some of it positive, all of it honest. I think maybe folks are nervous because tomorrow is a BIG day, as far as legal action and press are concerned. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x145362#145965I, personally am :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I agree with you... now is not the time to second-guess ourselves into oblivion. Now is the time for action!
We ARE dissidents! Dissidents seeking the TRUTH!
Dissident truth-seekers of America unite!
...
allright, enough rallying. I just wish I could've been there too.

if Kerry electors voted for Bush. Very, very surprising. It's possible one of them might throw out some kind of protest vote.

11. Can you say any more about what the elector said? |
|
I can't tell if he meant they won't necessarily vote for Kerry/Edwards or they may just not vote at all?

17. I do not remember his exact words |
|
Perhaps someone else that was there will chime in on that one. He just explained at length what they were expected to do. He said they have one choice and that is to cast their vote for John Kerry and John Edwards. He indicated that was not necessarily what they would do. I can tell you he was true blue and funny as hell. He was wearing a "some village in Texas is missing its idiot" t-shirt.

18. Well, doesn't it seem like they will not cast their votes at ALL |
|
as there is too much evidence of fraud etc.? That is what I think he meant. I cannot believe he meant Cal. would split the votes between BShitler and JF Kerry

19. No, there was ABSOLUTELY NO INDICATION |
|
that any electors would vote for *. What he said was tied to what is happening in Ohio. What they are planning, if anything, would be something to get media attention.
Please do not too excited about this. It is just my interpretation of what I heard. I am sure other DUers were there. It would be interesting to hear their take on what was said.

I have had several conversations with someone with www.Nov3.us who is helping to coordinate the elector effort nationally.
They are trying to get some Kerry electors to cast provisional votes. In an email she wrote:
"We have electors willing to do something in Massachusetts and in California, interest in Vermont, possibly Maine and folks are trying to reach electors in Washington, Illinois, and New York"
From a later email: "we have at least one elector definitely on board in CA, Maine and Mass. We'll add Mary. And in addition, we will put out a national press release after the vote at the end of Monday. hopefully Mary will be a voice for that release too"
I haven't gotten a full update this afternoon but I'm told things are moving along well for this effort.

You made a big difference today in the court of public opinion. Take a look at the following thread to see some of the news stories that were generated by the protests and marches. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x144470
