Google suppression...
Notice how Ohio irregularity stories have NEVER made the front page of Google News? I have been monitoring it several times an hour for weeks (and right now every minute) and always have to go searching for the vote stories. Kerry's request letter was huge last night, and it didn't even make the "in the news" sidebars.

Oh...just changed its top U.S. stories!...newest 2 hours old, about Lieberman considering joing the Bush admin at hs.

glad to see joe's mind is elsewhere.

3. What is even more fishy
Is when you do a google search and get 100s or 1000s of hits, and repeat the exact same search later and get ZIP. That happened to me last month while researching one of our "tinfoil hat conspiracy theories". I posted my search terms here in the morning, and told of some of the finds. That night ALL hits had disappeared. I was pretty freaked...

4. Hmmm...it didn't dawn on me until now...
Perhaps there's a connection with recent stories about the "need" to monitor the Internet(s) and the absence of stories highly unflattering to BushCo (like "election fraud").

Do you suppose the recent "suggestions" of limitations and restrictions (in the name of HomeLand security) might be intended to intimidate ("warn") Internet players like Google?

Not to mention the MSM...

5. I use Lycos for searches; always have from day one..
but it wouldn't surprise me if so-called "HomeLand" is intimidating the search engines. But, Lycos, right now does bring up searches on ohio election fraud. We just need Bush out of there.

7. Yep, quite possible. Don't forget
Google is in it for the money, so they want to be real careful. It's DU and the like that'll be primary targets.
That's another reason why pro trolls visit so often these days, IMH(but justifiably paranoid) 0.

6. I don't think its suppression, just lack of MSM interest on their part.
Hopefully that will change today.

8. Nothing to worry about people...Google has good reason not to cover Ohio..

They've had to make room for the updates in the "Kerik's nomination" story.

Admit it: we need to figure out who's to BLAME.

Funny how the msm stifled the "blame game" rounds before with this administration. They just might not have known what an import story is unfolding in Ohio.

God Bless Google

If you didn't look for "failure" as a Web search, I suggest you try that one as well. I think you'll be highly amused at the #1 link.

13. I have Noticed As Well
I noticed this phenomena about a week after the election. To prove this, however, would be difficult as far as I can tell because Google's search algorithms are proprietary and not subject to public examination.

I have read that Google DOES filter news search results in other countries. It has been reported that Google cut a deal with Chinese officials to weed out all stories critical of the Beijing govt. that appear as a search results on their Chinese site in order to operate in that country.

The two guys that founded the company appear to be Democrats, but I could be wrong about that. If I were executing a coup d'etat, I would consider it to be a strategic advantage to control that aspect of information flow on the Internet.

I read the same when I was researching Falun Gong a couple of years ago - haven't followed up on it since.

I'm having no problem w/google myself (I use safari to browse)
I just did "Kerry Ohio recount" and I found plenty - the "news results" includes
Scoop and NPR (tavis smiley) as well as several papers.

17. Google Covering Up Since the Start
We reported on Google censorship
problems back on 9th November:

Google Censors
VoteFraud Stories

BreakForNews.com, 9th Nov., 2004
by Fintan Dunne, Editor
http://www.BreakForNews.com/articles/GoogleCensorsVoteFraud.htm

Search engine Google is ignoring thousands of news stories about the alleged theft of the U.S. presidential election.

Searching Google News for "presidential+election+fraud" gives over over 10,000 stories!

Nevertheless, there has been no coverage of the election fraud issue on the Google News front page, or even it's U.S. News page.

19. Google owners in the Bush family
There was a story about Google on NPR a few months back when it went public. One of the most interesting points the reporter brought up: The owners are actually relatives of Duhbya(albeit not in the immediate family).

20. I made
Gore's Chinese search engine, Accooona, my home page, but, after brief initial success, for some reason - I suspect malicious - the word "search" was always inserted before "Accooona", so that I got a dud page. I wrote to them about it some days ago, but no reply so far at least. Google is history, as far as I'm concerned, anyway.

24. So, let's see, Bush ...
... fixed the voting machines to go his way

... arranged for the Scott Peterson death penalty to be announced on the day the electors elected

... rewired Google to play down the election fraud conspiracy theory.

If he could do all that, DOGGONE!, maybe he should be prez!

28. Google Bias
I used to use google news because I thought it would present news stories based on the level of interest they were receiveing ie number of clicks. That is not the case. The stories are handpicked and remain in place until new ones are picked. I stopped using Google news as a result.

29. really, what is up with this?
i usually go to google news page for latest news. even with the NYT article and washington post article, NOTHING on their main news page. Even if you do a search for the story and get many 100's of hits, still not on the main page.

think i'm sticking with buzzflash.

and they responded that it's an entirely random kind of selection.

Then why was it, I wonder, that we hardly ever heard about Kerry? (And this was during the campaign!!)

I don't buy it.
