51. Newsweek say Kerry only "half hearted". On fence, and look at us....
JK needs to make this bigger than us. The media is making it too hard for this to be about "us". They made him sound terrible. And they say, that Blackwell did run the clock out. But then, why did JK via Arnebeck wait till the last second to file? Help!

I watched. I think this was a great report on pure "column inches" alone. I enjoyed the incredulity in his voice. Fineman is, well, Fineman. He said some really non-partisan things; I think that may be a first for him. So, what? No one's happy? I'm happy.

Tonight's blog, btw, is great. His info is a little more "fleshed out." I also love a good Gilbert & Sullivan reference...

I'd like to add (merely as a shameless plug): "I own two Broward County 2000 Voting Machines, if anybody would like to do a private recount." OK, me! Yes, please. :)

Bush said YES on Kerik in order to embarrass Rudy G. Obvious. They had to take him down 'cause he's too freakin obvious.

OK, bwah, KO being cynical about the NYC DEMOCRATS saying Kerik great because they knew about all the problems. Too fecking funny.

63. Tobacco companies give the prison system "rebates"
*cough*kickbacks on the cigs they buy and then resell to inmates. We're talking millions. That $$$ used to go into the prison general fund but Kerick redirected it into a "foundation" that only HE had control over. Heard it on NPR this morning.

88. I think his station makes him pick most of his guests from some station
approved pool of mediocrity for the most part. With a few exceptions, Keith is much more interesting and provocative ( in that cute sarcastic way of his) than his guests. He really needs to start insisting on getting better guests, and soon. I'd love to see Keith interview someone as intelligent as himself, say Thom Hartman, who really knows his history and civics.

I'm just an old earth-lovin' :hippie:

Why aren't the college kids out in the streets en masse on the Washington Mall or something?

If it wasn't for my osteoarthritis and lack of fundage to get there, I'd be out in the streets protesting like we did back then and like the Ukrainians just did in their country.

Sad to say it, but I think that some massive protests are the only thing that is going to get any attention from the people who we are trying to get the attention of!

Our cites protests are usually organized by this 60 year old guy. Last peace protest he got put in a police car and later fined for leading us on the road...apparently we didn't have a permit this time.
Not his fault though, city wouldn't grant it at the last minute.

today when Bush was "officially" declared President WOULD NOT be the best time for KErry to surface and go fist to cuffs over this. I am hoping the term officially is just a figure of speech - and am holding hope for jan 6th.

But I also admit by the time 1/6 rolls around, it will be over 2 months with too little sleep, too much stress, no ability to concentrate or to contribute much of anything to anyone or anything. But I will hold out hope anyway.

46. Fineman commentary
Howard Fineman: "It reminds me of the whole Kerry campaign" -- neither here nor there.
Kerry has left the thing alone. "Halfheartedly" lent effort.

KO: Blackwell not doing a good job of making it look like they have nothing to hide.

Fineman said Blackwell stonewalling. Hard now to overturn now that electors have voted. Xenia "inexcusable."

Protest now must go to Senate & Congress. Fineman: "Not likely."

"Teetered on the edge of being a mainstream political catfight--- is it going to go mainstream?"
Fineman says probably not, even if Conyers votes for contest, probably won't find a Senator.

BUT, tens of millions of people, *not just fringe elements,* have issues about voting and system.

I don't know why some people are so obsessed with Olberman. Yes, it's good that he's covering this, but he's been practically discrediting the whole movement in every show.

54. Well, that was quite satisfactory, all in all.
Fineman is kind of a bit of a wet blanket, but we can't expect them to get up and say that the election will be overturned tomorrow.

Plus, I always like being told I am NOT a tinfoilhatter. It makes me happy.

(sigh) ... that Keith.... he gives good newscast.

Extra dose of floaty hearts tonight! :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

it cracked me up when he mentioned everything that happened the past few days in one breath, and then said 'yeah, not much going on here!!'

65. it was a way of presenting that Kerry is joining the recount campaign
I think Olbermann likes to layer his type of humor onto the broadcast. It is sort of a "come on already" subtext to his reports.

89. I notice he is willing to go a bit further out on a limb in his supportive
stance in his blogs than on the show itself. Maybe he is allowed more freedom there to express his opinion. I'm going to read it now. We need to redesign his bloggerman man, he is just too nerdy, not enough sex appeal like Keith himself. Maybe a Cary Grant ascot and smoking jacket on the little animated bloggerman. But I digress.:loveya:

Handsome or not, witty or not, NBC/GE pays his mortgage - you think he wants to be a hero? I doubt it.

Should we organize a massive demonstration in Ohio, similar to what's underway for the inauguration?

I'm wondering why millions of us are not in the streets, where do we need to go? Should we go to Ohio and support the hearings? We could all bring white candles and stand vigil for democracy.

That is your story.

and disenfranchisement AGAIN!!!

97. A Norwegian Perspective
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 11:40 PM by Bouvet_Island
Being my first post I think I maybe should introduce myself, I am a Norwegian cook, I followed this case since the first report on Countdown, as reported in his blog.

If any of you have tapes of the Olbermann shows, it would be very helpful for any interested in convincing other people like their journalist friends if they somehow could be available online.

I am not advising this if it is illegal or if suggesting this is in conflict with the rules of the board.

A way of doing this would be to post them as sorensen compressed quicktime 320*240 video on the site "The Pirate Bay".

"The Pirate Bay" operate under Swedish copyright law, where this is legal. There is no porn visible on the site if you don´t register and then turn it on. You will find all antibush films, the Al Jazeerah documentary "Control Rooom", as well as many other interesting documentaries and historical documents like original jewish and WWII german propaganda films. I suggested this site because they have fended off copyright attacks, have good technology, and reach I believe the largest and most global audience for such a site, I believe also the most political sensitive. It also doesn´t have porn advertising or spyware, at least not that I have noticed myself. It also have a decent design for what it is, no "Warez" logos.

The best would be if there could be edited a highlights version and a full unclipped version, as a journalist would need the first to get interested and the second to be able to write properly sourced articles.

Just one show if it is particularly relevant would make a big difference. I would believe Keith Olbermann at least privately would approve if not cheer this, he should be the journalist the Foreign press quotes, not the idiot CNN or NYT choose when they are forced to.

It also would be good with a neutral and short explanation, including the dates and time, link to his blog and his bio. I believe the link to DU should be left out as this would not strengthen the credibility towards for example journalists with rightwing alignment. They are often good gyus in Norway, nothing like what you have to cope with. No capital letters, no saying there was any fraud. There is a discussion forum at the bottom of each post, where someone could put essential links, and discuss with the audience there. I would suggest to try to keep it non partisan, link relevant discussion at freeper if you link discussion at DU.

I am the only person I have met in Norway that have heard anything of any Fraud in this election. One article in my regional paper, it was flush with the conspiracy stuff and not the important, a dud in the saturday special. In regards to the foreign press, this matter have to be served in slices, as it is to big to fit in the mouth. This is the reason I as I said don´t suggest this if it is not appropriate.

All of you have my respects, I believe I can speak for the Norwegian people here when I say You are doing us a great service even if we don´t know about it.

I will have to sleep some now, I will be happy to answer any questions tomorrow Norwegian time.

For journalists I would suggest the Conyers-Video (rtsp://cspanrm.fplive.net/cspan/project/c04/c04120804_conyers.rm). There is also 20 mb highlights-clip avaible (for example somewhere on democrats.com)...

105. It is "Challenged"
Griffy that is great!

I forgot to say but there is a downside to the Bittorrent technology, it is that the person that posts the file have to make it available or "seed" the file, until other people have the entire file.

The advantage is that there is no need to buy bandwidth on a server, and that the system have a very large capacity. It is also possible to mail the seed .torrent file, you don´t need to get it from The Pirate Bay when it is rolling.

I couldn´t find it in the listing, I would guess that is because it isn´t seeded althoug there could also be a delay. There is a guide to a program that can be used for seeding http://thepiratebay.org/frame.html">here.

I will check it a couple of times today, if there are further problems we maybe should try to arrange for it to be sent to me so I can do the tecnical stuff as I have a strong feeling it would work from my machine. I have an account at something called streamload, My account name is Habla and it is free to make an account that can send me stuff. There is no size limit, you pay for downloading.

The more the merrier. I have time to publish mostly on the fly.

I also wrote KO and suggested they make the shows available on the net on a pay per view basis, I am sceptical though if this would be feasible to him under the circumstances. If he does this we of course should stop competing, and explain media that Keith is good business by promoting and using the service.

Norway out.
