Sorry Bev but you lost me.
I've had the wonderful fortune of watching BBV develop with the immense help of this fantastic forum. It proved to me that Democratic Underground in it's activists mode is a very, very powerful force on the Internet. Make no mistake, without the help of DU and it's members, BBV IMHO would not exist today. From the technical input by brilliant DU members, to simple emails (in the thousands) to politicians and the media, DU pushed BBV to where it is today.

Now.... there ain't no doubt that Bev Harris led the way with her hard work and devotion. Members, including myself believed that she was the conduit that would expose the serious potential for Vote fraud with the Black Box. Whatever we dug up we got it to Bev and she put it out there. She recruited the very best minds in software code, she contacted the media, and she put herself at great risk with the unveiling of this corrupt new way of recording our most cherished gift ,THE VOTE!

BUT something happened along the way. Some call it incompetence and some call it greed.

Was I troubled when she joined forces to Qui Tam Diebold with some dude in California (the same dude who called DU members a bunch of Commies),errr yeah.... Was I troubled for what she did to plan9_pub/David, uhh yeah.... Was I troubled when I saw activists who were with Bev and BBV from the very beginning, falling by the wayside, ...AND each one of them repeating the same tale of how Bev screwed them at the end.... Yeah...yeah...yeah...

All that and I still believed in Bev Harris... That was until I read on her web site what she and her supposed Board Members wrote about Andy Stephenson. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong about Andy, but Andy's always been one of my most favorite DUers. I always thought that if Andy's still hanging with Bev then every things OK.

What was written about Andy on BBV.ORG was one of the most unprofessional things that I've ever read in my lifetime. It was as if it was written by a petulant little child who was suddenly off her meds. It was a rant unworthy of an organization that is trying desperately to hang on to any credibility that it may still have.

I notice now that the rant has been pulled from BBV.ORG. The meds must have kicked in. Thanks god for screen shots. (down below)

I'll close with this comment. I will not join the bandwagon members who jump on every Bev thread and disco in the Bev Bash. I simply will ignore those threads and unfortunately from now on, I'll sadly ignore Bev Harris.

1. Well Said.
I no longer acknowledge her as part of our cause whatsoever.

3. "Disco-ing in the Bev Bash" is the perfect description.
:-( At least we air our "dirty laundry" in public, unlike the Repugs who hide it in the closet.

Still there's that element of "revelry" which is disheartening.

4. I started a thread here (poll) a couple weeks ago asking
if she was on the team of Bush or the voters. It was removed pretty quickly. Never found out (or tried to) why. But at that point, she was the main person looking into this issue and had tens of thousands of people nationwide relying on her, thus doing less themselves to pursue/expose the issue. I had one simple point/question; if Bush & Co. are smart enough to steal an election (2), then is it a stretch of the imagination to think they might create the organization that will eventually be the voice of most of the people questioning the accuracy of the voting machines? Especially when they know that the insufficient security of voting machines would without a doubt be exposed... I'm sorry if I'm wrong....it just seemed like they could have done more with the information they had and I heard about too many smoking guns from her that I never heard any conclusions about......

7. too new to know what to think...
...though I was lurking for a few months before the outbreak, I had already begun to post just as the feuding started this past summer (or rather, continuation of the feud, I think it goes back a few years).

Anyway... what troubles me about your question are 2 things:

(1) the fact that this Jim Marsh - who is Bev's partner - is an unabashed right-winger who calls Democrats "commies" - I saw that post too.

(2) the fact that Bev's PR company - was it really a PR company? - actually sold "Clinton" cigars online. I went to that site and was kinda shocked, LOL. I cannot fathom any true liberal or Democrat doing such a thing. And worse: such a person being the voice of a serious movement nationwide that needs every ounce of legitimate credibility it can get to gain momentum and support is a scary thing.

Those 2 things bother me very much. I'm sorry I wasn't aware of them before I gave my donation.

13. you ask:
"if Bush & Co. are smart enough to steal an election (2), then is it a stretch of the imagination to think they might create the organization that will eventually be the voice of most of the people questioning the accuracy of the voting machines?"

they created John Kerry, didn't they?

6. You are not wrong about Andy
I totally vouch for Andy, who spent the entire RNC week crashing on my couch. I absolutely trust Andy.

9. It's like eating potato chips
Ya' can't eat just one!

I find it slightly amusing that a poster who scolds people for jumping on threads to bash Bev would start another Bev thread and bash Bev. Try saying that three times fast!

I am 100% in agreement with those that have expressed shock, sadness and anger at Bev for her bizarre and unpardonable behavior. Her treatment of Andy was petty, vindictive and unbelievably stupid to boot. My deepest sympathy goes out to Andy in regard to the death of his sister.

But this is barely a bash... It's my way of expressing great disappointment.

10. Can you Imagine?
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 11:15 AM by BeFree
The pressure Bev felt from so many of us looking to her alone to drag us up and out of the election hole?

No human can handle that kind of pressure for very long.

I've seen it before: Founder's syndrome. Due in part to lavish praise from others drawn to the cause, a founder becomes an inflated into a larger than life persona. The resultant added pressure induces:

Mistakes made midst increasing pressure to succeed.

Tunnel vision.

Schizoid Paranoia.

************

Not saying that this is what has transpired, but if what yall are saying is true, it could have some bearing.

Even if what yall are saying is true, there is still much value to be gained from BBV.org. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water, eh?

14. Sorry, I disagree. Could be wrong, but if I feel passionately about
something and it's something I'm fighting for every day, I would think that having tens of thousands of people getting behind me and supporting me, would just make me that more determined. I could understand "founders syndrome" if it were a fight that had less "confidence builders", but in this case, there are sever "red flags" popping up almost every day! I think the most stressful things is just setting priorities about which irregularities to pursue more than others. Just my 2 cents.
