Anyone have anything on Ross County....?
This sounds strange...

The ballots would be difficult to count by hand, because they are only marked with numbers, not candidates' names. Which candidate corresponds to which number changes from precinct to precinct.

No pollworkers are needed for the recount. However, in addition to the four regular staff members, the four machine workers were on hand Monday to explain to observers how the machines work. Two women who handle the absentee requests were also available, as were Republican Party Chairman Ron Fields, Democratic Party Chairman Steve Madru, Prosecutor Scott Nusbaum and one observer each from the Democratic, Republican and Green parties.

The technicians set up a voting machine to demonstrate how it works. Two of the technicians are Democrats and two are Republicans, and they must always work with a member of the other party.

The observers "voted" on the machine, and Board of Elections director Nancy Bell and deputy director Nora Madru put the cartridge into the computer to show how the computer reads the number of votes cast for each candidate. The computer does not allow the same cartridge to be read more than once, and if someone tries to erase the results from one of the cartridges, the computer will show numbers are missing for that particular precinct.
