Please sign this petition to Senator Boxer (We'll NEED 1 Senator!)
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 09:54 PM by faithfull
Please go to www.contestthevote.org/ and sign this petition.

We will need a Senator to contest the election. We already have Congressmen but we have to have a Senator.

When Congress reconvenes in January, at least 14 members of the House of Representatives will challenge the validity of the 2004 election. They will request an immediate investigation into many problems and irregularities encountered in the election.

According to the Electoral Count Act of 1887, one senator and one House Representative are required to contest an election prior to inauguration. We have the representatives; we still need a senator. Please let Senator Boxer know that we want her to be that senator.

thanks for your help!
peace,
jw

4. Check out the #s from Ohio, and even California!
I hope we can keep up our intensity. With this crew I'm not to worried :)

I'll be damned if there's going to be a 2000 repeat of no senatorial support of democratic voting

6. I signed the petition. I'm a Boxer constituent, so maybe that helps.
My two sons and I all voted for Barbara Boxer this past election.

Hopefully, this will help urge her to support the contesting of this farce of an election .

40. Same here !
I live one town over from the city Babara Boxer frist appeared on the sceen from . Perhaps as you stated ,seeing the pation signed by the very people that vote for her in elections will have the effect of getting her interest in taking an active roll in this investigation .I know for a fact she is no fan of ther bushes. Just a couple of days ago I listened to her talk about how the economics of bush ,is giving tax of $25,000 just for being born .Nice way to start out life ,already in debt !

Why just Boxer? Several Senators would be more effective and less self-destructive

11. Agreed
Don't know much about those folks, but if you think we got a shot, lets hit em. The Boxer petition has 5000+ signatures already, so I think its good to hit that one hard. We always learned that the first goal was the hardest one to get. Send this to everybody you know!! Lets get EVERY Dem. Senator to stand up!

23. No reason at all why more Senators shouldn't do it!
Senator Daschle was Diebolded this election. I think it will be the new Congress (because this goes to Congress on Jan. 6). No reason other Senators shouldn't sign it, too!

I have a dream. Senator Kerry rises first and signs, then Senator Edwards, then ALL the Democratic Senators rise up and sign it, in a gesture of overwhelming love for the black voters who have been so loyal to them (70%-90% votes for Dems), and who have taken such outrageous abuse again this year in Ohio and Florida, 40 years after the Voting Rights Act, and after years and years and years and years of disenfranchisement and abuse.

IT IS OUTRAGEOUS AND A DISGRACE TO OUR NATION!

along with a few websites that some of them might wish to review in the event they are interested in saving this country. I signed the petition and I hope at least some of my friends and family will do the same. Either they aren't willing to talk to me about it, or they don't know what's going on. Either way, I don't care anymore, hopefully this will open their eyes and their mouths!

Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 12:56 AM by Liberty Belle
Do a google search for "Democratic Club". Chances are it will list several for your community. Send this petition to the contact people listed for every club--and ask them to e-mail this on to their other members.

You might also try sending to other progressive organizations, such as a local chapter of Planned Parenthood, Sierra Club, ACLU, etc.

24. Hard copy mailed is more effective
ActionSpeaks Portland has written a petition urging Senator Wyden (D-OR)to voice his support of any challenge of the 2004 election brought by members of the House of Representatives. This petition can be modified and sent to senators in other states. Download documents from: http://www.actionspeaksportland.org

Please make copies of this petition and gather as many signatures as possible! It must arrive at the senators' offices by the beginning of the 2005 session - if you mail the completed petition to the senator's Washington DC office, we suggest doing so by December 28th. Or you can FAX the completed petition by December 30th.

ALSO: write letters, emails, make calls to Wyden, Boxer, and to other senators who may be willing to stand up! They need to hear from us en masse.

Text of petition:

Senator Ron Wyden December 14, 2004
516 Hart Senate
Office Building
Washington DC 20510
(202) 224-5244

Dear Senator Wyden:

Massive evidence has emerged concerning election irregularities and fraud in the 2004 Presidential Election. The GAO has received over 57,000 complaints concerning election irregularities. Hundreds of stories on malfunctions of electronic voting machines and central tabulation machines are appearing in regional news media. Numerous papers and sworn testimonies written by experts are stating that the chances of the exit polling to be so wrong are almost a statistical impossibility.

We recently learned that Kenneth Blackwell, the Secretary of State for Ohio, who is clearly partisan as the Co-Chair for the Bush/Cheney campaign, has used his official powers to illegally hinder the recount process in Ohio in numerous ways. He has also refused to cooperate with and refuses to recognize the jurisdiction of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee.

It is because of these facts along with so many more that we are proactively seeking support from you.

We, the undersigned citizens of Oregon, agree that a repeat of the betrayal of the 2000 election where no Senator stood up to support the members of the House of Representatives in challenging the election outcome is unacceptable. We urge you to openly voice your support for any challenge of the 2004 election brought by members of the House of Representatives.

Respectfully,

Hell they should post all the petitions so people online can sign them. Hell I don't see why it only has to be people living in their state. Because unless I'm wrong or did something wrong the only one you could sign is this one. I think it would help regardless if the people are from the same state or not.

35. Help all--send petition to these Democratic Clubs:
http://www.cdc-ca.org/cdcclubs.htm

Click on the option to locate clubs by county, then start sending the petition to as many Democratic club officers in California as possible. I sent to a dozen or so last night, mostly in San Diego County, (and now the petition has over 9,000 signatures) but there are dozens more clubs listed.

41. I think this is why ...
My guess is that the reason that the Senators aren't coming through is that they don't want to outflank Kerry. Their loyalty to Senate hierarchy is higher than their commitments to their constituents.

Offices of both Rep. Capuano and Pelosi told me that these reps are silent because Kerry is silent.

Kerry personally told me that the reason they didn't contest the 2000 election was because "Gore asked them not to."

I am sure that Kerry is having the same effect on the Democratic senators right now.

Nina

42. Everyone should sign, but...
I think many people on this discussion board are confusing 14 representatives' signatures on letters to the GAO to investigate voting procedure and irregularities with challenging the electoral college result on Jan. 6. These are NOT the same thing, and I am aware of no list of names of brave congresspeople who have stated that they will stand up on Jan. 6.

I had a long conversation with my congressman (Delahunt) yesterday, and he wasn't much interested in talking about such an action, claiming that he would need "proof" of widespread voting fraud. That would be the standard for sending Blackwell to jail, not for refusing to certify the election as fair and worthy of a 'democractic state'.

Where's the outrage? A few members of the Congressional Black Caucus (a la 2000), yes. But even on this progressive discussion board, challenging the election on Jan 6 is not a red-hot topic.

BTW, my local peace and justice organization is sending a letter to our federal legislators imploring them to have a spine on Jan. 6, with copies to Conyers, Boxer, etc. I hope to have that pretty soon and will post someplace here in case it's of use to others.

If the bad guys steal the election every four years, it kinda takes the fun out of electoral politics.
