Who has contacted their own representative in Congress?
Every Congressional representative should be contacted at least once from their own district. I am handicapped, as my Congressional seat is vacant at this time. For that reason, I contacted the other reps from my state to notify them of my concerns. Who's been contacted?

Tammy Baldwin on 11/4 (She Responded that she had signed on the GAO investigation). She is wonderful.

Russ Feingold on 11/4 (Russ was pretty tepid in his response. Senate not involved in voting issues. Told me that I should contact the appropriate folks if I personally experienced any problems voting...I'm sure...I live in Dane County)

Herb Kohl got a form e-mail from me (that was all the passion that I could come up with when thinking of communicating with him)

All in all...the only thing that kept me goin' the last four years when I would look around at the burgeoning group of lunatics running this country was thinking...there are some seriously crazy folks in government these days...but none of those crazy people are representing me.

Here is my letter to Duncan -- I say more pressure at all the points the better.
************
I would like to see you take an interest in and take a stand to investigate the concerns that many people have about election fraud in the 2004 General Election. This issue is neither Republican not Democratic, it is an issue of ensuring a vital and healthy democracy. As each day passes I read more and more substantial information about claims that the Ohio election was fraudlent not to mention other elections. These claims continue to hold water (see the fourteen page letter by Rep. Conyers to Kenneth Blackwell or the Washington Post 41 paragraph article from December 15 recapping all the concerns). Each passing day there is more obstructionism in Ohio. One really has to ask if its so difficult to conduct a legal and legitimate recount, one must ask what are they hiding? Ohio is not the only state by any means. One only has to look at the impeachment of the Secretary of State of Nevada who turned her office into campaign central. This is behavior unbecoming a public offical and for either political party it is a breach of their legal responsibilities as elected officials. As my elected Representative in Congress, I expect that you show some intergrity and join the investigation if only to show completely that our fears are not true. If you leave it only up to the Democrats to investigate who knows how balanced such an investigation may end up being.

I expect a reply to my letter and I thank you for your sincere understanding.
*******************
My husband also wrote Boxer and Finestine (sp?).

35. Hunter constituents--let's ask to meet with him.
Bring some friends, neighbors, and relatives. I know a Republican for Kerry who might be willing to participate. Does anyone here have Republican constituents who would be willing to come along? We should ALL care about the integrity of our voting process.

Duncan Hunter, however, will only listen to Republicans, most likely. While he's extremely unlikely to contest the vote, perhaps he could at least be shamed into supporting full bipartisan Congressional hearings if he thinks enough voters are onto the GOP "see no evil" game.

34. Here's how to get thousands to contact Congress:
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 01:36 AM by Liberty Belle
Google "Democratic Clubs"+ your state.

For California, I found this page, which lists dozens and dozens of clubs and contact e-mails. I've sent the petition asking Boxer to contest the election to many of these just now and urge others to follow suit. If each club forwards the petition to all of its members, we can start a landslide!

You can find the petition at www.contestthevote.org. FYI, 14 Congressional representatives now say they will contest the election--so we just need one Senator. But let's aim to get a bunch!

2 times to Harry Reid, and I had found this article about Senate Dems planning to investigate the administration, so I asked him to add election fraud and reform to his list. I think others should site this article and do the same for their Dem Senators who are doing this:

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2002118803_dems14.html
<snip>
"Senate Democrats announced plans yesterday for wide-ranging hearings to examine Bush administration policies and conduct, saying the Republicans who control both houses of Congress have abdicated responsibility for oversight of the GOP administration."
<snip>
"Dorgan and Reid listed a number of possible targets for hearings, including alleged contract abuses in Iraq, the administration's use of prewar intelligence, misleading cost estimates for the Medicare drug benefit, cost of the administration's plan for private Social Security accounts, implementation of the "No Child Left Behind" education bill and administration policies on global warming."

54. Letter From Tammy Baldwin

December 16, 2004

Mr. *** *****
*** South Woods
*****, *********

Dear Mr. ****,

Thank you for contacting me about potential fraud in the 2004
presidential election. It is good to hear from you, and I appreciate
learning of your concerns.

You will be pleased to know that I recently joined several of my
colleagues in calling for a Government Accountability Office
(GAO) investigation of the efficacy of voting machines and new
technologies used in the 2004 election, how election officials
responded to difficulties they encountered, and what we can do in
the future to improve our election systems and administration. In
response to these requests, the GAO has launched an investigation
of election processes and technologies, such as voter registration,
provisional voting, and the security of voting systems. Rest
assured, I will continue my support of these important
investigations.

As you may know, I am a strong proponent of paper-based voting
systems in order to have a permanent "hardcopy" record of votes
which can be used for vote recounts. That is why I cosponsored
H.R. 2239, the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act.
This bill, introduced by Representative Rush Holt (D-NJ) on May
22, 2003, would have required all voting systems to produce a
voter-verified paper record suitable for manual audits. In addition,
H.R, 2239 would direct the Election Assistance Commission to
conduct manual mandatory surprise recounts of the voter-verified
records of federal elections and, at State or local option, of
elections for State and local offices. Although Congress has
completed its work for the 108th legislative session, please know I
will continue my strong support of legislation to require voting
systems to create a verifiable paper trail in the 109th Congress.

Again, thank you for sharing your views. Your opinion matters to
me. If I can be of service to you in any other way, please do not
hesitate to let me know. As a result of the anthrax incidents, all
mail sent to Congress is first irradiated. This process causes
significant delays. To ensure the fastest response, I encourage all
constituents who have access to the internet to contact me through
my website at http://tammybaldwin.house.gov.
Sincerely,

Tammy Baldwin
Member of Congress
