5. depends on what "teamwork' is. If it means giving up ideals |
|
team work is not a party. The republicans give up nothing and work in locksteo. We should learn to define ourselves as well.

The human spirit is undefinable and you wnat us to define what we are we we come together?
Uh, it's a team. There's your definition. Now, be a team player or be non-concillaratory. It's up to the individual. It's up to each and every one of us whether we, as a team, Take Back America.
Teamwork wins. Losers fight their team.

22. But the Democratic Party should be definable.. |
|
If it isn't that is why we lose. A political party id defined by what it believes.Everyone knows where the Republicans stand. There should be no question where the Democrats stand as well. I need to know where the Democrats stand before I decide to play on their team. If they are willing, for example , to render a womns right to choose negotiable under certain circumstances, I wouldn't play on that team If The Democratic Party is a team that wants to find "value" in including pro life voter , I couldn't reconcile myself to that position.

more to the right.
These are not stupid people. Nancy Pelosi is a helluva smart person and we hear she's backing Roemer? I missed a memo somewhere. Just don't get it, as stupidly as possible, just don't get it.

11. You can't reframe the "principles" - those are eternal. |
|
Hope, responsibility, caring, opportunity. We MUST however, reframe the words used to describe those Progressive "principles," or to be more precise, Progressive values.

progressive is a word they (whoever they are!) would like you to use so you can avoid the vilification of the word "liberal" I don't accept the vilification of that word. I won't play the game. Liberal is an absolutely beautiful word and I am proud to be a liberal. Liberal means generous. Progressive just means going forward!

I think we're giving up way too much and playing their game... I think it's been happening for quite some time. The real liberals are being dragged behind by the pseudo-Republican DLC that shapes the face of the party. We need to find a way to establish a medium for our message... since MSM is out of the question, it needs to be grassroots. I propose we start a major grassroots campaign with the money left over from the election and really get the wheels turning now.

|
If we are unwilling to fully stand up for what we believe, then why do we believe it? Or have the republicans beaten so many of us down for so long that we are always on the defense? I tend to think that's what's going on. Dems need to realize we can stand up for what is right and still be good people. :)

room for people who don't go into automatic apologies if you accuse them of stepping on your toes -- to the nth degree.
Interesting question. We should all be asking it imo. Our strength as progressives is flexibility and inclusiveness. Our strength is being turned on its head and used against us.

16. There is no place in the Dem Party for conciliatory Lieberman liberals... |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 06:48 PM by Shalom
If you are truly a liberal, you believe in liberation and freedom, which you cannot have by being conciliatory to those who have stolen your liberty and your freedom.
Joe Lieberman, I must say, is a wimpy sellout who is an embarrassment to his party. It's likely his mushy response to the theft of the 2000 election helped the Repigs seize power.
Do you remember how he took it upon himself to say Dems would accept illegal late military ballots, so that thousands poured into Florida after the election was over, which made Bushitler's "537 vote" margin the basis for the shit we are in today ?
