Anyone know more details about New Mexico vote machines rigged?
snipped from earlier thread:
>I was reading about the problems going on with the county (Fairfield) that triad failed to properly rig, where the machine and hand counts were failing to match. What I found curious was that, from whatI could tell, undervotes where no presidential choice was present, were being logged as votes for Bush. If the mahcines were setup, as we have seen in some other places, namely NM, where Bush was the default choice in the software until something else is selected, then wouldn't all undervotes go to Bush? If only a few machines were so setup, this could be hte mechanism by which thousands of expected Kerry votes would be switched through sloppy voting and a default Bush column, to the bush column...

1. Machines here were reported that
registered a vote for Bush when the touch screen was pressed for Kerry. Another case was when a GOP judge discarded all paper ballots for Kerry and approved all the ballots for Bush.

Don't kid yourself that NM is a red state. The junta lost it by a whisker in 2000 and wanted it very badly. Democrats swept all the judgeships, which were the only local races. There is no way people switched that many votes from Dem for local to GOP for national.

Not only that, but the voting totals simply don't match up, and that is statewide. More people voted than had votes recorded for national candidates. Don't try to tell me that people waited in long lines just to vote for judges. It didn't happen.

The whole picture here is one of massive and pervasive fraud extending to every single county, even the ones considered safe for the Bush junta. There is no way this state went for Bush.

People here are sick over it. Expect to see that change to rage as it all sinks in.

2. Apparently Democratic Governor
Bill Richardson does not share your sickness or rage - and it did not sink in for him. He is doing everything he can to prevent a recount in New Mexico. Why?

7. That is really sickening
The only reasonable reason for that position would be that with the electronic voting systems in use, a real and meaningful recount coundn't happen.

Neverthertheless, that would effectively force the issue of unaccountable no-paper-trail machinery.

Clearly, the voting machinery manufacturers managed to pull one over on the Dem's who were supposed to be running the election. Does Richardson find that to embarassing to admit?

3. All I've seen so far is the EIRS reports and a gross statistical overview.
Both of which are now integrated into a single document:

http://www.helpamericarecount.org/NewMexicoData/NewMexicoGeneralElection.pdf

But I keep hearing hints that harder evidence is in the possession of the groups on the ground there.

5. If you want to see the data behind the report you cited...
It's at:
http://helpamericarecount.org/NewMexicoData/NM%20State%20Data%203.5.2.1w2f2000.xls

BTW, several of the number crunchers and analysts who gathered and studied the data are DUers, including the author of the report and the designer of the study.

6. Yeah, I know...

It would be nice to see attributions... I don't want to take credit for pulling the EIRS data because someone might have done that without using my summary, but there are a few others that should probably be mentioned in the paper.

9. Sorry, the EIRS summary was pulled independently.
I should know. I did it myself. Wish I'd known that you'd already done it as it was a pain in the ass converting the damn spreadsheet into a readable Word file.

All the incident reports should be included in the full data, though. If it's not, PM me and I'll upload the latest iteration.

4. The Green Parties and Libertarians have file suits ....
NM wanted 1.4 million to recount. Which is really ransom money. And it really stupid to pay a dime because they used 'touch screen' machines all over thhe state.

recounting computerized results is dumb...its always going to have the same result.

The oly thing NM can do is go to Court, go after Diebold!

8. That snip is from me..Here's what I meant:
In new mexico, many (aprox 1/3rd by one estimate) of the touch screen machines there initialized a new voter's ballot with certain defaults already selected. Much like if you went to a web form with many options in a poll, but one is selected before you make a choice. Thus were many machines in New Mexico clearly setup to begin with G.W. selected at the top of the list until the user selected something else.

I found it likely that given the fairfield events wehre 2 undervotes were counting as bush votes, that the software might be doing the same thing, but invisibly. Seeing how tabulators don't have a UI to show you the tabulation process per se, this would go undetected. It would also be hard to find this in a software audit...this would also account for the statistical reduction in undervotes we have observed.

10. Please check your PM's
I have to have documentation of this PLEASE. If there's a credible link it will make a huge difference for the NM recount! Please PM me, even if you post it here because I often don't get to check threads.

11. Several analysts have noticed the pattern of touchscreen defaults to Bush
Edited on Sat Dec-18-04 09:48 PM by berniew1
One pattern that is developing based on the experience of voters in Florida, New Mexico, Ohio, and elsewhere(especially swing states) is the the machines appear to have been set with a default to Bush. Then if a voter successfully punched the ballot for another candidate, Bush was replaced by that candidate. But it appears that in many cases the voter did not successfully accomplish this and in some cases it was hard or impossible to get the other candidate to register. This was a major problem in Mahoning and Fairfield counties in Ohio, and possibly Mercer, but also occurred in many counties and several states. They had to replace some of the machines in counties like Mahoning after repeated attempts by techs to "recalibrate" the machines after widespread reports of problems. This also happened in Florida and New Mexico. But this means that Bush would get not only the votes of those who didn't notice that the punched candidate didn't register but any intentional non votes or accidental non votes or unsuccessfully completed votes. Quite an advantage. As much as 2 to 4% in some areas and even more perhaps in some minority areas.

15. New Mexico vote machine fraud documented- Kerry won- doc. here
The analysts looking into New Mexico have done a very good job and documented lots of vote machine fraud and systematic voter suppression of minority Indians and Hispanics, in the poorest counties. Its clear that Kerry won N.Mex. and the fraud and fact Kerry won would be disclosed if they do a serious recount in N. Mex.
The case is summarized here, see the EIRS cases and other documentation.

16. Has anyone heard anymore about the New Mexico recount??
Does anyone know how to contact the Govenor of New Mexico?
He is Dem and needs to be educated about the fraud pattern documented there by the local analysts. You would think he would have heard, but it doesn't seem so based on his actions so far.
Fraud and massive voter suppression of minorities happened in N.Mexico and its a small state and easy to document. If its proven there it would be easier to get more attention on Ohio and Florida.
Those 2 states have very unfriendly people in charge of the election system, and its hard to do anything with their obstruction unless the public pays a lot of attention.
See the article by the local analyst with the EIRS case data for more understanding about this.
