What are you DOING before and on 06 Jan 2005?
Edited on Sat Dec-18-04 04:17 PM by understandinglife
Per a request from fellow DUer, 'crispini' I am posting this here and elsewhere at DU:

I urge each of you to begin your preparation to save our American franchise of democracy by copy/paste/print/signing and fax the following to the local offices of your HR and Senate representatives in the 109th US Congress.

And, remember they work for you; tell them precisely what you want them to do on 06 Jan 2005:

&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Dear _____________,

Having reflected, all day, on the exceptional dKos Diary "Folks Don't Get It" by shanikka, my resolve to see the 'national election of 2004' halted on 6 Jan 2005 transformed to "do or die."

You should read what she had to say and what it elicited from others:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/12/15/9734/4841

I have sent the following message to several colleagues and want to share it with you so you can know what to expect and why we are corresponding with you now.

We are requesting that millions of our fellow citizens be in DC on 6 Jan 2005.

We will join, together on that day, with you and all responsible members of the HR and the Senate and together we will halt the fraudulent national election of 2004.

We will halt demonstrate, together, in the largest ever display of unity in support of our Constitution.

We will conclusively assert that "we the people" will not tolerate anything but a HALT to the farce, the brutal, systematic attack on our fellow citizens in their effort to "form a more perfect union" -- to vote and know their vote was recorded as they intended.

Together, we will forge a remedy to the situation that provides to each of our fellow citizens who are eligible to vote an equitable access to do just that -- vote. We will ensure that each voter has a mechanism to ensure that their vote is counted exactly as they intend it to be.

We will save our American franchise of democracy.

We will then vote, together, for the 44th President and Vice President of the USA and we will all know, beyond reasonable doubt, that whomever receives the most votes is the elected representative of our Nation.

We will bring joy and hope to all of humanity because of our actions between now and 6 Jan 2005, and every day thereafter.

We will never forget the peril to our Constitution, our freedom that we confronted together and resolved -- we will have lived and sacrificed in the honor of all whose ideals and sacrifices have graced each of us and for whom we now must prove our gratitude.

We will prevail.

4. I prefer the direct approach, since you asked ....

here is my latest letter to my Senators:

Senator :

I am a constituant of yours.

I believe that the Moss V. Bush case before the Ohio Supreme Court has merit. I doubt that your staff will have trouble finding it, but I reviewed a scanned PDF file of the case here: http://freepress.org/images/departments/Election_Contes... Please inform me if this is not a true copy. I remind you that there is significant evidence yet to be presented in this case, and that discovery has not yet begun. The filing also mentions problems in 5 other States, but that court has no jurisdiction.

My familial history predates the founding of The United States. I likely have ancestors who participated in the Continential Congress (and later, others in the Wiskey Rebellion). The roots of patriotism run deep in me. I take this matter very seriously.

Although it appears to be a long held tradition in American Politics, I believe that the American people have evolved past the toleration of theft via electioneering (which is arguably an act of sedition). Just as they evolved past the holding of slaves, the denial of franchise to blacks and women, and et. cetera, we as a people can not continue tolerate this behavior from our "elected" officials.

I am writing to inform you that I am here watching your continued inaction closely. Your actions are being documented and that documentation will be available when you seek re-election.

Already documented is your inaction in 2000 regarding the Florida Presidential election theft. I feel this is partially excusable because the Supreme court did rule on a case concerning the matter, but, that ruling stopped a recount effort that later showed that Gore actually won Florida.

These are specific public actions by you that I would like to see in the historical record:

Publicly declare that that you will delay the acceptance of Electors from any State until court cases concerning those electors are resolved.

Support the efforts of U.S. Rep. Conyers to open Congressional investigations into the problems in the 2004 election.

Work towards the immediate appointment of a Special Prosecutor to investigate the election irregularities in all States named in Moss V. Bush, and, others as uncovered. Ensure that crimes uncovered in that investigation are persued fully.

I have the utmost confidence in your ability to persuade your colleagues that failure to act on these issues will undermine further the confidence of the American People in thier republic. I fear that the best case result of failure to act on these issues will be the genesis of a grass roots effort to reject all incumbents in future elections. The worst case scenario could include widescale riots or an armed defense of the Constitution.

I will be outside The Capitol on January 6 to demonstrate my support for your anticipated courageous actions in this matter.

Please keep me informed and let me know how I may assist you in upholding your oath of office.

This is the kind of action we need. Write your representatives and tell them that you will be paying attention to their action vs. inaction and that you will vote accordingly in the next election.

....on my mother's side, the lineage passes through Charles Carroll of Carrollton. My recent immigrant 'Italian genes' are definitely dominant but quite compatible with the revolutionary traits of my mother's ancestors ;-)

Peace.

Cool. I can see a DAR against election fraud chapter.

The link I have is alledgedly through General Arthur StClair, Revolutionary, President of the Continental Congress, and later Governor of the Northwest Territories (meaning Ohio, etc.) Family lore has it we are cousins. The wiskey rebellion part is absolutely accurate.

Speaking of all this, where are the Cincinati?

10. Yes, that's the one. Has his signature on a ...
...rather interesting revolutionary (aka dissidents) document ;-)

You've got a fun sense of humor, as well!

Not sure where those 'Cincinati' are.....

We will prevail.

11. I'm planning on reading....
....Dear Papa, Dear Charley: The Peregrinations of a Revolutionary Aristocrat, as Told by Charles Carroll of Carrollton and His Father, Charles Carroll of Annapolis, with Sundry Observations on Bastardy, Child-Rearing, Romance, Matrimony, Commerce, Tobacco, Slavery, and the Politics of Revolutionary America

by Ronald Hoffman, Sally D. Mason, Eleanor S. Darcy, Hannah M. Cotton, Guy M. Rogers

....during the 'holidays': fitting reading in preparation for the 6th, perhaps.

Peace.
