People protesting in Portland Oregon right now
Just got off the phone with a relative who came through downtown Portland in the last hour. She says that about 200 people are in the courthouse area protesting the election, carrying signs "Not My President" etc.

Anyone got more news on that?

4. Yes, they should all just go home, pop a top and watch "Survivor"!
And maybe on their way to an evening of must-see TV, they could pick up some shiny expensive consumer products. That's much better than all that silly ol' "activism", isn't it?

10. Actually, I don't think it's a waste
Bush didn't win by a landslide and I want him to know he's not welcome here - and to stay the fuck away from our environment. So far it's not big enough to prove anything. I love a good friendly protest just to let them know how we feel. You can sit on your couch and drink beer - I'd rather, hopefully, have my voice heard.

14. We should all just crawl into the boxcars ...
... and head out to the 'showers' then, I take it?

If people want to protest, let them protest. They've earned it, for fuck's sake.

18. Immune to pepper spray
These are probably the same good folk who got doused by some thug cops during a Bush Minor visit a few years ago. Right out in the gap between the Hilton downtown and the Heathman hotel.

17. Don't expect the local channels to cover it unless there's violence
If there's a chance of portraying protestors as incoherent vicious vandals, then the media makes a cameo. Sometimes they mistakenly cover protest marches that stay peaceful and you can hear the disappointment in their voices: "Well, Jim, we thought there might be some conflicts between police and protestors, but so far everything is calm..."
