How many states have conducted recounts, or plan to do so?
We have another BIG rally (Gathering To Save Our Democracy) planned for tomorrow in Nashville,TN which we hope will draw 500-800 people. I would like to be able to tell the crowd how many states have conducted recounts already (at either the state or local level), are conducting recounts now, are planning or hope to do so shortly, or tried and failed to do a recount (e.g., Nevada). Can DUers help?

I'm aware of Ohio, Florida, Washington, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Nevada, California. Am I right about all of these and which ones am I missing? Thanks. This would be of great help.

By the way, at our rally tomorrow, we will have Democrats, Greens, Libertarians and Republicans standing together on the steps of the State Capital to state their common support for free and fair elections and to affirm their common belief that the 2004 Presidential election was stolen. We'll also hear from veterans, ministers, old and young voters, social scientists and a host of others. In addition to Tennesseans, we are expecting folks from five (!!) other states, including a carload driving up from New Orleans. So join us if you can. Email me if you want more details on the rally tomorrow. We also plan to keep rallying until we overthrow this fraudulent election. Peace, out.

5. Here's some more details
You can find the full announcement under Tennessee in the state forums. But here's an update. Hope you can join us.

A SECOND GATHERING TO SAVE OUR DEMOCRACY
SUNDAY, 12/19/04, 2:00 PM
TENNESSEE STATE CAPITAL
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE

BE THERE!!!

To everyone:

We have really picked up steam this week, after our first Gathering To Save Our Democracy was such a success last Sunday. The positive local media coverage, coupled with postings on "Democratic Underground" and an article on the Internet, has brought us accolades and support from around the country (Minneapolis, Denver, Kansas City, Phoenix, Chicago, New York City) and the world (Great Britain, Australia). Here's the TN Independent Media Center posting of our first rally:

http://www.tnimc.org/feature/display/3890/index.php

It has also generated a great deal of conversation about the election theft among our Tennessee co-workers, neighbors and friends; and that's with only minimal press coverage so far. However, folks are so interested in what we are doing that we'll have people in the crowd this Sunday from Huntsville, Asheville, New Orleans and Seattle (yes, you read that right!), wanting to join us in taking our country back.

The speakers we have lined up for this Sunday are an excellent cross-section, and we're still recruiting more. So far, we have representatives from the Tennessee Democrats, Greens, Libertarians and Republicans, all united to speak against the 2004 election theft. We have veterans, ministers, social scientists, young and old voters -- and we can make room for more spokespeople if any of you have ideas.

Our first Gathering was held under the radar, but this one will surely not be. So far, things are going smoothly. I spoke to the State Capital officials this week about our second Gathering and was told (this time) that it normally takes two weeks to get permission to use the State Capital for any gathering. But they called me back the next day and waived that requirement for us!!

We have notified the press again, and (we) taped a 30 minute radio program today that will be broadcast early Sunday morning on two large Nashville FM radio stations that reach from Monteagle to Jackson, from Kentucky to Alabama. I expect those radio programs will increase our crowd significantly.

There is the possibility that some Brownshirts for Bush will show up this time to be disruptive. If so, the Capital Police have said that they will be happy to handle them for us. Besides, if those anti-democratic numb-nuts want to chant "Four More Years", I'm sure we'll be happy to respond with "Life Without Parole"!

It will be cold, so dress warmly (i.e., look Ukrainian). Remember, the Ukrainians stayed in the streets in much colder conditions, continuously and in great numbers, for three weeks to overcome their own election theft. We can sure do the same for a few hours. Besides, a few snowflakes will be a nice visual link to our friends and role models in Kiev.

Please get there early (around 1:30 pm) if you can, because there will be several "jobs" for willing volunteers.... The main thing we need is 10 times as many warm bodies, loud mouths and unyielding patriotic hearts. You know who you are and you know who else we are. So keep recruiting like-minded folks to join us up until the rally begins. If people can join us from North Carolina and Alabama, from Bourbon Street and the Left Coast, they can surely come from all points Tennessee.

OK, folks. That's enough for now. I'll bring jars of organic blackberry jam to award to the persons who got the most emails about this Gathering (as small gifts to ya'll for being so well-networked. Blackberry jam goes well with pro-democracy spam.) So please do everything possible to be there on Sunday at 2:00 pm. It's no exaggeration, folks -- the whole country (and the whole world) is watching Tennessee. Let's give 'em a good show!! Bernie

8. 600+ posts in three days! What's your story?
Do they have you chained to a computer down there in Flori-duh? Since your profile indicates that you're "down with Bush!!!", you might want to consider getting outside for a breath of fresh air, while there's still some available. Who knows, we may not succeed in exposing Bush's brain for what it is in time for you to do that much in the future.

6. I know, but I want to include states where the need to recount was noted
So Nevada would count also in the total list I would like to construct, even though the Greens and Libertarians could not afford the ante to do the recount there. (Holding our elections for ransom -- isn't that like kidnapping democracy?)

4. Ohio, New Mexico full recounts; Florida, North Carolina, partials
Common Cause Florida and RecountFlorida.com have partial recounts/audits going on in Florida. Greens asked for recount in New Mexico, but there is haggling over money.
North Carolina is having to redo part of their election- revote, due to vote machine errors.

9. I wanted to be there, counted up the miles and travel time
it's too far for me and I can only be with you in spirit!

I think without more of a visible and loud support of the Democratic Party we have problems stating the obvious case of the stolen election, yet again.
I mean Kerry/Edwards.

Peace out! I support you! I agree with you and I wish I could be there to march with you.
