Time Names President Bush 'Person of the Year'
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&u=/nm/20041219/pl_nm/media_time_person_dc_6

Wow. This just made my fucking day!

Oh, this just in.....Hitler wins Nobel Peace Prize!

When will the brainwashing stop?

Easily one of the worst, definitely one of the most dangerous presidents in the history if this country named "person of the year". I'm gonna puke.

2. Actually.....
Hitler was Time's Person of the Year one year back during the 1940s.....it does not go to the best person but the person who makes the biggest difference during the year. So if Hitler can win it, so can Bush!

9. the difference here is that the managing editor praises Bush
--snip--
Time chose Bush "for sticking to his guns (literally and figuratively), for reshaping the rules of politics to fit his 10-gallon-hat leadership style and for persuading a majority of voters this time around that he deserved to be in the White House for another four years," Jim Kelly wrote in the magazine.

11. Hey Mr. Kelly?
Edited on Sun Dec-19-04 10:32 AM by dennis4868
Is this what you meant by "sticking to his guns?"

1. outing a CIA agent for political gain?;

2. Lying to congress and the american people for reasons to invade Iraq?;

3. Ignoring post invasion war plans that has lead to thousands of deaths?;

4. violating the constitution and using congressional approved funding for Aghanistan instead for Iraq without telling congress;

5. no bid contracts for uncle Dick's company?;

6. Not enforcing environmental regulations for his big company friends/donors?;

7. job losses;

8. Sleeping on the job before 911 and ignoring terror warnings?;

12. Kelly's obviously another member of that awful "liberal" media
that is so critical of the poor administration.

18. I agree that Bush did all those things.
I hate Bush and his policies but he did what Jim Kelly states and the fact that he did it is bad for America and the world. I haven't read the editorial but does Kelly say these things are good for America or the world - that I would certainly disagree with.

4. Puke. Vomit. Nauseous. Ultimate hypocrisy. Yech. Plech. Pffft.
The only thing I can think of that makes this bearable is that Hitler once had the same title...and look at his place in history.

6. If I had any technical skills, I'd do a graphic that shows
the TIME magazine with HITLER on it next to the visual of BUSH on the front of the magazine.

Right now, listening to MEET THE PRESS about the mis-handling of the IRAQ war, I can't understand how anyone, particularly anyone with someone in the service, could support this administration.

This administration is killing our country...one person at a time.

8. I think they've had criminals and terrorists
as their "person of the year" before, haven't they?

This year is THE "Year of the Thug" if ever there was one.

10. Just another Multi-National Corp giving their Bush sales pitch!
Most huge multi-national corps really wanted Bush to win.
I can't for the life of me figure out why! The economy is in the toilet and Bush is about to flush it into the sewer! The world hates us! People are dying in an unnecessary war that we can't seem to win! How does all this awful stuff help these large corporations enough to make them want to keep up this constant spin?

14. Noted amongst the following in that story...
Edited on Sun Dec-19-04 11:03 AM by tasteblind
"Some selections have been notoriously unpopular, such as Adolf Hitler in 1938, Joseph Stalin in 1939 and 1942, and Iran's Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1979."

This deserves our applause. Time is just calling it as the facts merit.

And made the lady that answered the phone note why.

20. Turn the magazine around backwards wherever you see it
George Stephanopolous just asked Jim Kelly of Time Magazine what it would take to get W on the cover as Person of the year a third time, and he said "another war"!
