Can people please stop twisting things they read, to make it the way they
Edited on Sun Dec-19-04 04:27 PM by saracat
want ,instead of the way it is. I have read several threads where celebrity quotes are parsed to come up with a different meaning! There is one about Micheal Moore where he is quoted as believing Bush won and there is no electoral fraud. Micheal has repeatedly stated this .One poster found many examples, but people still insisted he doesn't believe what he is saying. I believe there was election fraud. I am trying to help with uncovering it and protesting, but this doesn't help. I would like real information, not fantasy. People insisting statements don't mean what they say are driving me nuts! Sometimes a bowl of oatmeal is just a bowl of oatmeal folks. Not everything has a different meaning, and not everyone you count on agrees with you. So please, get a grip. Don't flame me.JMHO! Cheers!

23. Examples:
Chincoteague
Dales
Dartmoor
Exmoor
Gotland
Newfoundland
Shetland

I think you meant to ask Saracat...

I was just quoting her. I was trying to interject some humour although I do agree with her that some people need to take it easy.

In the larger, humourous sense it was almost as if she was trying to stop "spin".

4. what I heard MM say, re election:
one of, if not his first appearance on the Mess Media, (shaven and suited) - think it was on Jay Leno. He said:

bush got more votes.

I don't recall him ever saying that those votes were bona fide and that there was no election fraud.

5. Now you have

"Do you give any credence to these Internet conspiracy theories about the voting machines in Ohio?"

"Nah. And I don't have a double standard here. I've stressed since 2000 that Gore won the popular vote. Now, even if Kerry won Ohio, clearly more people across the country wanted Bush than Kerry. So there you go. Deal with it."

7. Filters ...
That seems to be intergral in the process.

Now, if we could only get the mass media, the White House, and the Rethugs to take your advice, we could get a Constitutional Democracy going here ;)

I pledge confusion to the drag
Of the divided snakes of the Swastika.
And to the the Republicans, who make it bad.
One Nuthouse, under fraud,
With gibberish and Fascism for all.

11. I can see why it is frustrating... and
These are very confusing times. It is hard to hang onto the truth when there is so much denial and cognitive dissonance out there. I don't fault anyone for trying to find meaning in what someone they normally trust says.

We are on our own, and this looking for meaning is part of how this great fog of unreality is dealt with.

I am used to this kind of crazy making from recently having been around several deaths. Vehement statements come up by people that seem to be directly in contradiction to experience--and your only recourse it to talk to others who saw what you saw and try to figure out why someone else said what they did.

Don't know if this makes any sense. I've got relatives coming.

Yikes. Talk about cognitive dissonance!

12. Moore DID have vote fraud links and articles on his site.
I just glanced at the front page but they appear to be gone now.

He DID film voters in Florida.

Now he appears to have dropped the issue. It is WEIRD, is it not, that he would be all over the issue earlier, and now that there's more evidence and even a modicum of mainstream acceptance, he'd forget about it?

Maybe he changed his mind. Could be!

But you'd think he'd at least say something like, Well, those black box machines are losing the trust of the people, because that is undeniable.

But his behavior is WEIRD.

It's hard for some of us to take, since we've been admiring him ever since Roger and Me as a champion of people vs. corporations.

It is cool though - and I will remember it for the futre. Thanks!

14. Death Threats? Anyone?
He's been threatened. I'll bet anything. LOOK at what these people are doing to the recount volunteers in Ohio. Michael Moore was threatened during the election and was more than likely threatened again when he posted the election fraud article. I just don't believe that he actually thinks the chimp won. AIN'T NO WAY!

of body guards because he had received so many death threats. I'm sure if you care enough you can Google Michael Moore + Death Threats + Body Guards and find some articles.

RWers are a bunch of murderous wackos. I know how they operate. I don't doubt for one minute that one of them would have killed MM had they been given the chance.

19. he and/or his family was threatened in 2003
after his book was published -- on his tour promoting it he had body guards. several. I wouldn't doubt after F-9/11 was released this didn't go up a bit -- didn't stop him from participating in the election -- BUT -- I would doubt very much he'd be talking about what he had/didn't have from election night footage *unless it had a contex* -- the stuff coming out now, makes it very likely there is more context to anything that was captured on film -- otherwise people would just blow it off....

25. As a new guy here...
...I'll admit a temptation to juice up a post heading.I know that being this new I crave the kind of affirmation of my viewpoint that a high count of replies bring....a lot of replies=you have something important to say...Certain posters (TIA,William Pitt, etc) are almost guaranteed attention (which is well deserved) but when you've only started a dozen or so threads it sure is disappointing to see them drop off the page without comment. That's MY mea culpa,I'll try to watch it but controversy memes sure are meritricious...
