Democrats advocate a cherished value - WA State gov race
Finally, a rational piece about this.

<snip>
Washington state has become ground zero in the war between reds and blues as the gubernatorial race between Republican Dino Rossi and Democrat Christine Gregoire heads to the wire. The chairmen of both political parties -- Republican Chris Vance and Democrat Paul Berendt -- need to chill out.
...
Alone, Vance's rhetoric degrades legitimate government and takes our state, with his party, to a dangerous place. It is a place reminiscent of the hard-edged style of Republican spokesman James Baker in Florida and the hateful speech of Zell Miller at the Republican National Convention.

Vance's charge is ludicrous that Democrats in the Seattle area are trying to steal the election. Fraud is a grave charge...Vance's incendiary speech ratchets public sentiment toward outrage and makes the tabulation task needlessly more fragile.
...
Democrats argue every vote should be counted; they paid for a second recount by hand, provided by law. As this final process draws to a close, the fragility of our legitimate election system is laid bare. But Vance's rhetoric is calculated to lead voters to the unwarranted conclusion that in King County the problem is gross incompetence or gross fraud.

Much better than that tripe in the WSJ opinion page.

1. Vance is a ranting, abrasive, hysterical, temper-tantrum-throwing misfit
IOW, he's the perfect representative of the high-level GOP operative.

2. I just hope Gregoire wins w/o the 723 absentees
Then it will be Vance begging to examine those disenfranchised voters' ballots. (And certainly I would expect the Dems to say yes yes yes, count all the legitimate/legal votes.)

4. I'm surprised at hte ballance Komo4 was there at the rally
and they did a lot of smoozing up to the Rossi camp. They even filmed some staged protests that were done out front when nobody else (but me) was around and used the Rossi For Christmass banner as the backdrop to their broadcast.

5. Good job Hamoth !
Read your earlier account of the Rossi headquarters protest. Good job, man! We need more like you. Keep up the good work! I too am surprised at KOMO . Maybe they're seeing the writing on the wall, and don't want to totally alienate the incoming Gregoire administration! That's my hope anyway ... Wednesday should be interesting. Where's the protest to be held if the Supreme Court goes the wrong way, and Rossi is annointed ? Then when do we start circulating petitions for the Recall ?

7. Thanks!
A recall might not cut it. Christine has struck me thoughout this process as a deeply concerned and fair minded woman. She has given her word that whatever the courts and laws decide in this recount, it ends with this recount. I wouldn't expect a recall to do much good....then again, you never know.

The R's have been BEGGING for a revote....we might jsut give em one.

I'll stay plugged into this and continue to heed to voice of the party and go wherever they ask me to. Thanks for your words of support. Stay tuned to the washington page and htis one for updates on possible future actions for us to aprticipate in. I'll try to post everything I find here.

6. A Victory...
....for the Dems in Washington would certainly awaken the nation to the "bottleneckin" of the Ohio SOS/GOP Chairman....The very fact that any SOS can serve as Party Apparatchik determning legislative intent regarding oversite is very much in the spirit of CIA subtefuge....Again the system was "gamed" early....
