Maybe we should seriously consider WA and OR seceding.
Nearly 4 years ago, I tried to start a new political party with the aim of getting Oregon and Washington to peacefully breakaway from the United States to create a Republic of Cascadia. This did not work out as much as I had hoped. With the ever further moving to far-right of most of the country, maybe the idea of an independent Cascadia should be revisited. Do the progressive people of the Northwest want to be subjected to the right-wing fascist, christian fundamentalist movement?

Just a topic I want to throw out there.

should secede from the red states. Including my state, Minnesota, which kicked butt in the house this time BTW.

10. Actually I was thinking the same thing about Illinois
Hell I think as long as the republicans wouldn't be allowed to count the ballots we could make a contiguous country with the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, (maybe Iowa), Illinois Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, New York and all the New england States and hook up via water to the west coast states

12. Sounds good.
Perhaps several groups of states could secede simultaneously, with several governments. Divide and conquer the beast, eh?

Maybe upper Great Lakes and New England could be persuaded to go it alone.

15. Great link, great idea.
This is the great taboo in our nation's capitol, the rural states and many of the southern states (not VA) are on the dole. Time to end this and let them pray for funds to replace out gift. Oddly enough, Arnold Schwarzenegger, in his seeming naivety, suggested this as the solution to the California budget crisis. He said he'd meet with * and work it out. NOT.

Corporate America controls the media and we get manufactured news.
Corporate America now controls the voting machines and we get manufactured elections.

14. My $.02: go into it with California...
You all could secede with them, and:

1) Have all that coastline to yourself;

2) Charge the rest of us mucho tariffs on all that wine and produce (including your apples!);

3) Have all the offshore oil and hydro power you'd ever need;

4) Have all that Silicon Valley and Microsoft technology contributing solely to YOUR economy (the eighth largest in the world);

5) Be able to buy Boeing aircraft really cheap for your own air force;

6) Be able to retain the old PAC-8, AND the conference Gonzaga is in;

7) Sell the rights to the Rose Bowl back to us for mega-bucks!:eyes:

B-)

31. first thing you do is spell it right... secondly...
it's a pipe dream. OR and WA have their fair share of RW'ers and wack jobs.

what can be done is to spread the word that liberals, progressives and other sane people need to begin the process of emigrating to Blue State regions in order to permanently shift the balance of local power in those states and empower those states to protect our civil rights.

35. The topic was "thrown out" in 1865.
First, convince the eastern halves of Oregon & Washington to go along with your little plan.

Some Californians want to join, but will they include Fresno & Bakersfield? Some consider Los Angeles too impure....

Let us know when your state legislatures take action. Until then it's cheap & divisive talk.

36. Quit wasting our time with fantasy posts.
And that goes for all you who're talking about moving to Canada too. If you're gonna run, just do it. Don't look for validation of your cowardice here.

IMO, the only legitimate reason to move to Canada now would be if a draft was reinstituted and you were in that age group with no property in the United States worth mentioning.
