Kerry never should have given up.
What on earth was he thinking of? I still cannot help that this election was another example of dirty underhanded tactics al a Karl Rove. I thought Kerry was going to keep on fighting but today, I was proven wrong.

He should have stuck to his guns. He practically did what Al Gore did in 2000. This disappointment I have is overwhelming.

1. Yep, that's the worst.
Was just talking with a friend about this very thing. I feel like they pulled the rug out from under us.

2. My guess
is he was pressured. Wall street, Congress etc. He probably wanted to fight but because of all the behind the doors shit, he couldn't.

My take at least.

3. Look at what he said today...
"Audience member: We still got your back!

Thank you, man. And I assure you – you watch – I'll still have yours."

There just might be something in the works. I can only hope.

6. Sad, sad day
I have no doubt in my heart that John Kerry actually won the election by a landslide as the exit polls suggested. Then the Bush team went to work electonically and otherwise and took the election away from John Kerry and the American people. This is the second election in a row that was stolen. JFK should not have conceded until every aspect of the ballot tabulation process that was less than transparent was analyzed.

My 12 yr old daughter, whose been a dedicated JFK supporter battling the wingnuts at her school throughout 2004, came home from school today in tears. On the way home she found out that John had conceded and it broke her heart. All she'd say when she walked in the door was; "He promised he wouldn't give up until every vote was counted......Maybe he really is a flip-flopper". I still don't know what to tell her on that one.

But you never know how its going to play out. Personally I think Bush will be forced from office in disgrace before his term is out.

7. Yawn ...
He lost. Fighting on would have been a LOSE-LOSE situation. The outcome of the election was not going to change.

I would rather Kerry was not President with 4 million vote deficit in the PV. Combined with having the both houses, it would be a completely ineffective single term Presidency.

AWOL has been given the keys to the train. It's all his now. Grab a sandwich, and watch the wreck.

Cheers

11. My God, you are blind.
It isn't the BFEE who are going to be hurt by this... it's all of us on the train.

Even IF everything goes to shit, what do they care? The voting machines guarantee no accountability. 2008 goes to Jeb and by 2016 elections will be a quaint formality.

Kerry should have fought, he didn't.

13. He still shouldn't have conceeded...
until ALL the votes were counted. OK, so maybe he would have lost anyway...but at least he would have gone down with a fight. Despite everything people say about Gore, at least he FOUGHT until the last minute of the last hour of the last day. Only then did he finally concede and urge unity.

8. I thought Kerry was a fighter.
He rolled over faster than teen at prom. I thought Gore dropped the ball, Kerry didn't even try to fight. What a pussy.

At least Gore could say he was blind-sided, but this time everyone KNEW about those machines. He had to have known.

If he wasn't willing to fight for Democracy, what kind of president would he have made?

9. The votes are still being counted
They don't stop counting votes when someone concedes. If Kerry gets more votes in the final, certified tally than W, then he'll be the next president.

10. Not fighting to the last bullet is exactly why Dems lose the male vote
"A liberal is a man who leaves the room when the fight begins."
Heywood Broun

We are stuck with that old attribution.
