ReDefeat Bush held press conference & met with Jeffords today
Edited on Tue Dec-21-04 07:52 PM by Carolab
(Washington, 12/21 6:00 PM) A stunning day that makes me believe our Constitutional insurrection can succeed. This morning's press conference at the National Press Building on the CounterInaugural was well-attended and stayed on message. The opponents to the Bush regime believe -- as increasingly millions of Americans also believe -- that he did not win a legitimate election on 11/2/04 and that this cannot be allowed to stand. Rev. Jackson's conference call later in the morning included a number of Members of Congress and other experienced and dedicated organizers, who collectively nodded in agreement when Rev. Jackson said he thought this would be "bigger than Selma." There will be simultaneous demonstrations on 1/3 in at least Columbus, Boston and San Francisco and potentially other cities as well. People will ask their Representatives in Congress to support the Challenge and defend democracy. The mailing we are preparing to go out to Volvo owners in the Capital Region and the Bay Area is at the printer ("If you're smart enough to own a Volvo you're smart enough to know Bush stole the election"), and this afternoon I had a very warm and cordial meeting in the office of Senator Jeffords in which a few Senate staffers for various Senators sat with me and discussed the challenge of 2000 and what we learned from that experience. And all that is my way of saying sorry the RadioLeft.com program "Insurrection Connection" has been delayed until 6:45PM tonight, but I've been really busy!.

A Week of Inauguration Protests Planned

Tue Dec 21,12:54 PM ET U.S. National - AP

By EMILY FREDRIX, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Groups targeting President Bush (news - web sites)'s economic agenda, the legitimacy of his election and the war in Iraq (news - web sites) plan a week of events to counter his inauguration Jan. 20.

"Our intention is to show President Bush and the world our movement is energized, mobilized and determined to fight back," said Gael Murphy, of the activist group Code Pink.

Inauguration week will feature rallies, marches and demonstrations with the focus on peaceful, family-friendly gatherings, said organizer Shahid Buttar. Hundreds of groups throughout the country will participate, Buttar said, including Mobilization for Global Justice and the Committee to ReDefeat the President, a PAC that sees Bush's presidency as illegitimately won.

The groups have received permits for parks around the city, Buttar said, but they are still waiting for clearance to march along the Inaugural Parade route. More details will be released once all permits have been secured, said David Lytel, founder of Redefeat Bush.

Bush, who will be in a security area known as the "Red Zone," will be surrounded by blue, the color assigned to Democratic-voting states, Lytel said.

"What I expect is more people will be here to protest Bush's inauguration than to inaugurate him," Lytel said.

Lytel said his group will film events on Inauguration Day and release a documentary online that evening. They also plan a protest near the Capitol on Jan. 6, the day Congress will certify the electoral votes and officially declare Bush the winner.

7. Thank you for the inside information!
I've been typing my poor fingers to the bone today pleading with people to write key Senators and Reps -- and your post feels like the reward at the end of the day.

12. I wish I could be there wearing blue!
Did you notice the illustration showing the security measures for the inauguration? The dufus-in-chief is definitely aware that:

-- he has no "mandate";

-- he's the most hated president we've had in modern history; and

-- we're onto his election scam.

He can send soldiers to war "with the army we have" (insufficient armor, etc.), but he spares no expense to protect his sorry life.

15. Even sadder; that money is wasted -- no inauguration will occur on...
...20 Jan 2005 if we prevail on 6 Jan 2005.

Peace.
