About tomorrow
Ancient Chinese Proverb

Expect something huge and you can be dissapointed by a great thing.

Expect nothing and you will be pleasantly surprised by the same thing.

OK, it's not an ancient chinese proverb... I just made it up. But it's true, expectations shape our reactions to events. There's too much hype and expectations about tomorrow. Even if something good happens, it seems like a lot of people are going to be disappointed unless unless Kerry retracts his concession. Let's just take it as it comes and be happy when anything good happens.

lol lol lol that is funny, and true

will had something else a handful of months ago, and when i finally came out people were disappointed, and i am wow, this is really good stuff. what what, expect all to be fixed in no time. but, atlas, as good as news was, media didnt pick up on it and it didnt go anywhere like so much we had on bush before election

you are right though

Expect something huge and you can be dissapointed by a great thing.

Expect nothing and you will be pleasantly surprised by the same thing.

6. Video of Ohio Voter Suppression
This is my first post but I've been lurking since Nov 2! I didnt want this to get lost in another thread so I'm posting it here. Im not sure if this was already posted but there's a video available from Election night in Columbus. This is from a thread on dk titled: Video Footage of African American voter suppression in Ohio.

Its about 25 mins long. As I watched, my eyes slowly filled with tears...unbelievable....

8. welcome to DU nichole, and OH wasn't the only place
one of my customers, a young black woman went to vote in Tempe, she saw her name on the list! and they wouldn't give her a ballot, not even a provisional one

she is maybe 19-20 and she is a radical now for life. I felt so bad for her..

9. Glad to be here!
Thanks for the welcome! When I voted, there were 2 precincts in my polling place. I stood in the line of the precinct that was printed on my voter guide. Got to the front of the line, gave my name. They couldn't find it. I've voted since I was 18 without a problem. Started to tell me that I was supposed to go to a different place. I knew that wasn't the case. Then I was told something along the lines of "Well, you aren't in the book, so you cant vote" (no mention of provisional ballot, nor any mention of the other precinct across the room) I got out of that line and got in the other precinct's line. Sure enough, my name was there, and I was able to cast my ballot.

no feels crazy, he feels nutts. :silly:

Okay, it's not really an old ancient Chinese Proverb, I got it out of a Madd Magazine when I was in elementary school years ago and I just can't seem to forget it.
