5. Nothing Yet
Just wondering if he will be the Senator that will contest the election?
Last time we only needed ONE. Could it be? Especially now with all the rumblings about Rummy and Iraq, But I also think Rummy is the fall guy for bush. Thats where the problem is, at the TOP. All the neocons are beside themselves blaming Rummy and not bush. Could be they are trying to con the public and thinking we would settle for rummy and leave bush alone.

3. If there's big news
I wouldn't expect it until at least 10:00 eastern, probably later. They'd want the maximum press coverage nationwide. No use doing it before the west coast is even up and about.

WRP is the editor of www.truthout.org

He also wrote two books. 1) War on Iraq: What Team Bush Doesn't Want You to Know' 2) 'The Greatest Sedition Is Silence.'

Charismatic guy. Yeah, I'd say he has some credibility.

ON EDIT: He was also Kucinich's press secretary for awhile.

11. I just read the news today, oh boy.
Raw Story is carrying two items that match Will's prediction for today.

First up, news from the Kerry camp. http://rawstory.com/exclusives/kerry_1216.php

Senator Kerry's and Senator Edwards' state counsel for Ohio has issued a letter to Ohio Republican Secretary of State and Bush-Cheney '04 chair Kenneth Blackwell demanding an official investigation into voting machine tampering in Hocking County, RAW STORY has learned.

The letter, which was sent Wednesday, also asks that Blackwell require hand counts in any county where machines have been compromised, or have an independent expert inspect the machines. Hocking County elections official Sherole Eaton alleged that a Triad Election Systems representative disabled a machine and tried to plant unverified information into the recount at the House Judiciary Committee's election hearing Monday.

And for Triad Election Systems.. http://rawstory.com/exclusives/kerry_ohio_suit_1215.php

The lawyers for Green presidential candidate David Cobb and Libertarian presidential candidate Michael Badnarik, along with Kerry-Edwards 2004 have added election tampering to a civil suit filed against the state of Ohio over problems with the state's recount, RAW STORY has learned.

The suit, detailed here, alleges that a manufacturer of voting machines, Triad Election Systems, which serves 43 counties in the state, is tampering with the recount. It is unclear exactly what recourse the plaintiffs' seek; the filing adds on to an original suit to have the recount take place before Ohio electors meet, which failed in the courts. Green Party spokesman Blair Bobier said the party hoped to reform the recount process and suggested Ohio should secure or impound voting machines.

RAW STORY has also acquired the affidavit of the programmer mentioned in this suit who alleges that such tampering threatens the integrity of the recount.

22. I know that the stories are "last weeks news"...
But, today's news is that the JK/JE camp sent the letter to Ohio SOS Ken Blackwell's office yesterday, requesting an investigation into the tampering of the recount.

Because of the tampering of the recount by Triad Election Services, these charges were added yesterday to the civil suit filed against the State of Ohio.

The two separate stories qualify as new "news".

15. I doubt the releability of this story
"Sharon Eaton alleged that a Triad election systems representative disabled a machine and tried to plant unverified information into the recount.....". She alleged no such thing. When you get something so integral to the whole story that wrong, it casts doubt on the validity of the whole story

28. Not sure your right
A) Ms. Eaton gave answers to questions beyond the affidavit.
She could of given info beyond whats in the affidavit, that we/I/you don't know about

B) The affidavit does state the Triad rep. took apart their spare tabulating computer as well. If he didn't put it back together that would technically mean he 'disabled' the computer.

C) I'm sure I don't have to go into the "plant unverified information" part of the quote.

If ya got any info that makes me incorrect, please post it.
I would be interested in reading it.

Thanx in Advance

42. not necessarily
She decides what to put in her affidavit.
Not putting back together the old/backup machine, might not have been what she considered most important in the 'episode'.
It might never have occurred to her, at that point, that he could be intentionally disabling the machine.

Leaving it out of the affidavit does not make it true, nor untrue.

25. What I also think is pushing this is
in the WA state hand recounts showed more Democratic votes????

Does this go to the obvious errors where these machienes seemed to default to the Republican ticket... and therefor shouldent an entire hand recount, not just 3%, be done in Ohio, NM or anywhere a machiene count was done....

I find it very interesting that the WA hand recount showed the discrepency, even though not huge it still seems telling...

46. a good point, but...
while I by no means expect anything of the MSM anymore, I think that for this "surprise" to have any of the kind of weight that most are anticipating, it would have to register on some kind of MSM level. Otherwise it would mostly be more of the same, where more good evidence is unearthed only to be subsequently unknown to anyone who doesn't reside in blogtown.

40. This from yest. Cleveland Plains... JK pres. campaign criticizes Cuyahoga
County Board of Elections Wednesday night for its handling of the presidential recount and said some parts of that recount should be conducted again.

That won't happen.

The board certified the recount results Wednesday, which means they'reofficial and will be forwarded to the secretary of state to be included in statewide totals.

The new numbers show Kerry beat George W. Bush 448,503 to 221,600 in
Cuyahoga County. In the recount, Bush lost six votes and Kerry gained
17.

Board and staff members responded immediately to some concerns raised
Wednesday night by George Taylor, a law professor at the University of
Pittsburgh who lives in Cleveland Heights and who spoke, he said, on
behalfof the Kerry campaign.

Taylor, for example, complained that some provisional ballots were
thrown out because the signatures that voters used on Election Day were in cursive while the signatures they had on file with the board were printed. Those ballots, Taylor said, should count.

Board member Edward Coaxum said the board has always required both
signatures be printed or in cursive.

Taylor also complained that some provisional ballots - ballots cast by
those
whose names do not appear on voter rolls - had been rejected because
election workers determined voters cast them in the wrong precinct.

But Taylor said the board's own records show they were cast in the
right
precinct.

Cuyahoga County elections director Michael Vu had not had a chance to
review
those records. He will address that issue and others Taylor raised
after the
first of the year.

And he reminded Taylor that election regulations say only valid ballots not those rejected - should be included in a recount.

Taylor disagreed.

"There should be a process for re-examination of every vote that was
cast,"
he said.
