1. I should qualify it
by saying that i voted in Wyoming last time and a Nader vote was a protest against the Wyo Sec. of State. Now In PA and I'm all for Kerry.

2. I answered on behalf of my husband.
Nader in 2000/Kerry today. He realized in the last four years that Nader's an attention whore, and that even though Kerry may not be his ideal candidate, he's still better than four more years of the Shrub.

But at least he voted in 2000. I didn't. I atoned for that today.

5. Voted Nader in 2000, Kerry in 2004
California was a safe protest vote state in 2000, and probably still is now, but good to have a show of force. I still want a viable multi-party system, but sometimes you have to make compromises.

26. same with me
Just like you, I voted for Nader in 2000 because I was in California and it was a safe protest vote.

This year, I voted for Kerry essentially as a protest vote against Bush. California is such a safe Kerry state that I could have voted third-party again without swinging the election outcome.

Why, he's who I think is best, and if Kerry can't win my state, then hell must have frozen over.

8. Nader/Kerry
I voted for Nader because I wanted his party to get the 5% they needed - we need more parties in this country. Since I live in Kansas, I wasn't taking away from Gore, who I really favored.

This year - Kerry needs every popular vote he can get, wherever you live - and Nader's been acting a bit flaky.

voted Nader in 2000 in a red state in which Nader's margin didn't cost gore. However this year its all about voting Dem and giving Kerry the strongest case possible against the Rethugs who are going to contest unless its a landslide.

it is part of my beleifs and my faith (veganwitch probably too) to want the environment and the people in its party to be considered in the white house, and i probably would've voted for him had i been old enough in that election. But this year its kerry kerry kerry democrat democrat democrat all the way.

13. Solid Nader supporter in 2000, solid Kerry in 2004
I just couldn't warm up to Gore, last time.
But look at it this way, if (wait, I mean when) Kerry wins this time around we can get him again in 2008. I would be worried that Gore wouldn't have been able to hold on in a 2004 re-election.

14. Hell, I campaigned for Nader.
1. I really thought Gore would win. (Oh, right, he did.)

2. I could not have imagined how radically RW Bush turned out to be. His first "really" big lie having been that "compasionate conservative" bullshit.

Naturally, I have accepted the present reality and leapt out of bed this morning to get to the poll 30 minutes early. About 40 people beat me there, including the Dem who stopped by the house Sunday to GOTV. Not only voted for Kerry/Edwards but every Dem on the ballot.

Haven't voted for a Dem since '92.

only because i felt like he was a voice that we needed to hear and gore didn't have a chance in texas. i'm in new york now and although my vote is equally insignificant this time i enthusiastically voted for kerry

23. It's a very different Nader this year, isn't it?
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 06:35 PM by asthmaticeog
His '00 claims to be attempting to eastablish a third party seemed credible then, but running as an independent this time blows that reason to vote for him out of consideration. Plus the fact that in the four years since the '00 election he's done exactly shit for the Greens shows that he was probably just using that party - a party I still enthusiastically believe in, even though I vote Dem (not a lot of Greens running for local and regional office where I live).

Plus I think that if he wins, Kerry ought to give Dennis Kucinich a big sloppy wet kiss on the mouth for giving a lot of former Nader voters a reason to support the Dems this year.
