George Bush's 8 Million New Votes Found – STATISTICAL ANALYSIS

In an earlier thread I discussed the issue of Where Did * Suddenly Get 8 Million New Voters.... To recap this is important because:

"If you think about it , had the Bush Cheney campaign really signed up 8 million odd new republican voters... wouldn't they have been telling us about it for the past six months. Yelling it on the front page of every newspaper. Somewhere in the election statistics is the answer to a simple question. Where were Bush's 8 million new voters..-. find them and you find where this election was stolen.

WHAT I DID
Noticing that nobody was really taking a lot of notice of my ramblings I decided to take a closer look. The raw data is below and I will post an excel spreadsheet of this online soon so people can fill in the gaps (this is really a bit of a work in progress as is the DU tradition). I picked and chose my states on the basis of where I thought it likely that the votes came from and stopped when I got to 90% of the vote difference this only took 31 states.

FINDINGS

1. Bush did not pick up any vote at all on the West Coast.. in fact he lost ground in both Washington and California. This is interesting as this is arguably where the BBV machine manufacturers have been receiving the most heat. However it could reflect a relative lack of interest in so-called "moral issues" out west.

2. The five states I picked on the basis that they are known to have lots of voting machines (and particularly Diebold machines) had a significantly higher percentage increase in bush voters than average… 25% compared to 17% nationally.

3. Likewise the swing states also had a higher average rate of new bush voters at 21%. This however might be expected as they also had much more active campaigns.

4. Among the 31 states I examined were three big democratic states NY, NJ and IL. I selected them on a hunch because a) they are unlikely to be suspected of being used in a vote rigging exercise, but b) necessary to include if you want to achieve a large across the board popular vote gain that does not look too suspicious. These three states averaged a 21% vote gains for Bush and NJ and NY achieved around 25%. However between them they contributed 1.7 million new bush votes, or nearly 20% of Bush's total vote gain.

5. The remainder of my selection of states is broadly defined as "red states", they averaged 20% in terms of voting gain for bush. Notably both Kansas and Utah achieved % gains for bush below the national average. I am guessing here but I would have thought both states were "moral issue" based voter heavy.

DISTRIBUTION OF THE VOTES

6. In sheer numeric terms Bush gained far and away the most votes in Texas and Florida, 900k and 700k respectively.

7. 60% of all Bushes new votes, 5.2 million votes, were gained in just 11 states…FL, TX. NY, OH, PA, GA, MI, NJ, TN, NC, IL

8. Add in another 8 states and you get to 82% of all bush's new votes or 7.1 million… the states are WI MN IND AL OK KY AZ LOU & MD

9. Put another way 7.1 million votes or 82% of bushes gain was achieved in states totalling 65% of the popular vote. Within these states he achieved an average vote gain of an astonishing 23%.

10. 92% of the vote gain is found in the 31 states I selected data for.

11. The rate of bush vote growth in the remaining 20 states was just 5% on average.

12. In percentage terms Florida and Georgia (both heavily Diebold equipment using states) were the standouts with 32% gains respectively.

13. In percentage terms five other states showed more than 25% growth in the bush vote, in ascending order they were Arizona, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Of these AZ, NM and OK both recently upgraded their machines to new tech machines. NJ and TN also both use computerised voting machines, albeit older models.

All the elections are predetermined. They stole 2000 and now they stole 2004. We will never have a free election again. The Christian Re-constructionist have been planning this since 1974. They are in power and they will never leave. They will run our country on fear and hate forever. The exit polls and all the pollsters all predicted a victory for Kerry. People do not register in record numbers, stand in the pouring rain to keep business as usual. No one's vote was counted, it was decided in advance what the outcome would be. We do not live in a democracy and we have not since 2000. Greg Palast wrote a very good article about this:

We now need to know which counties within those states produced the vote gain.

If anyone wants to take up a job it would be sensible to establish a thread for each state and then post an analysis of the county by county comparisons bush 2000 compared with bush 2004. Again we do not need the results for all the counties... just the ones showing significant bush gains.

If you like making your research fun... it is quite cool to try and guess where you will find your new bush votes on the basis of the equipment being used. If the technique works it sort of proves the theory as you are doing the job.

Oklahoma, Georgia, North Dakota, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Montana, Utah, Mississippi and Arkansas backed constitutional amendments limiting marriage to a union between a man and a woman.

Oregon, which had been expected to reject the proposed ban, was backing a similar amendment by a smaller margin.

Ohio is reported to have also backed an amendment against civil unions for gay couples.

If the gay marriage issue drove people to the polls in massive numbers, then why don't the states with the gay marriage amendment on the ballot also match the states where Bush gained the most votes? Logic says they would.

Yes, the amendment was on the ballot in OH.

So, in other words, you'd think Bush would have high gains in Utah, yet Bush votes were DOWN in that state...! You'd think they'd be up in Mississippi and Montana, too... yet Montana just elected a Democrat for governor.

Okay, I just computed Florida county-by-county results for
Bush votes in 2000, 2004, difference, and precentage
difference.

First of all, in most counties Bush gained around 30-35% of
votes in this election than he did 2000. 

His top 3 gains were in the following counties:

Sumter 63.2%
Osceola 64.3%
Dixie 64.37%

His least 3 gains were in the following counties:

Jefferson 8.45%
Miami-Dade 9.0%
Monroe 21.16%

Unfortunately, I didn't find any correlation between these
results and voting methods in those  counties. I'm not a
statistician, so maybe others can find more interesting
anamolies. I don't know how to explain the wide margins here
at all.

To play devil's advocate, some of the Bush increase in NY, NJ and FL could be due to either conservative Jewish voters who support Bush's Isreal policy or to people who support Bush due to 9/11. I did GOTV in Monmouth county--an area which lost large numbers of people in the World Trade Center and it's true that some registered Dems switched sides. This was a tiny minority. My guess also is that the real conservative Jews were Bush supporters in 2000 if only due to lifestyle issues.

This is interesting. Take Florida's Putnam County. According to 2000 Census data, Putnam County has 53,098 citizens who are age 18 and above. They are pretty middle of the road politically - last presidential election they gave Gore 12,107 votes, and gave Bush 13,457. The turnout as you can see was almost 50%

Forward to 2004. Let's optimistically assume that the new over-18 population has now grown to 58,000. How did they vote? Well, they gave Kerry 12,409 votes, and gave Bush 51,988 votes. For a total of 64,397 votes (not counting third party candidates). A nice, patriotic 123% turnout!

Bush votes in 2000, 2004, difference, and precentage
difference. (I think this is what you wanted...)

First of all, in most counties Bush gained around 30-35% of
votes in this election than he had in 2000. 

His top 3 gains were in the following counties:

Sumter 63.2%
Osceola 64.3%
Dixie 64.37%

His least 3 gains were in the following counties:

Jefferson 8.45%
Miami-Dade 9.0%
Monroe 21.16%

Unfortunately, I didn't find any correlation between these
results and voting methods in those  counties. I'm not a
statistician, so maybe others can find more interesting
anamolies. I don't know how to explain the wide margins here

Bev and many others talked about how that was practice which was a real possibility of flipping the vote when they knew they were going to loose. It would make it easy and very low maintenance way of doing it. No muss no fuss.

The whole country wide election looks too complicated for them to pull this off across the board though. Must of been a variety of ways it was set up.

Complex things can often multiple reasons for failure, and who would know better than the people who built them?

Colorado went for Bush the first time around, too. Overall, the state is more conservative than liberal, with the Denver and Boulder areas going democratic, but everywhere else (i.e., the rural population and conservative population in Colorado Springs) going republican. The state is changing rapidly, however, with the influx of people who are moving to CO from California.

The senate race didn't go to the republicans because Pete Coors is simply a doofus when it comes to politics. Plus, in local races there was a backlash against the very right-wing governor who's implemented policy after policy against the will of the people.

I'm in Texas and I know Kerry had more support here than was reflected in the results. Not everyone in Texas is dumber'n dirt. We know better than most what he's about. But given the assumption that so many folks have that he is beloved here (**gag**), padding Texas' numbers would not make them look all that suspicious. Not unless someone did a detailed analysis of those numbers. ;)

In 2000, Gore signs were a real rarity. In 2004, I saw Kerry signs all over the place and scattered around so-called Bush bastions. In 2000, you could get your tires slashed for having a Gore sign. In 2004, it was perfectly acceptable to support Kerry.

All our early voting machines in Tarrant County are Diebold Touchscreens and the mainstay of the precincts are Diebold optical scanners. This switch happened awhile ago....

I also firmly believe this is how they got rid of Cleland in GA.

I found this last Thursday when you posted it and I wrote the stats out by hand. But I wrote how many extra votes Bush got in each of these states and the negatives for Calif. and Wash.

My teenagers in class got the significance of this immediately. If you just show the total increase in votes by blue states, swing states, red states (with emphasis on lack of large increase in Bible belt states like mine, Kansas, and Nebraska) and then show the negative votes for the two states who insisted on the paper trail...people get it and quickly.

Given the machine in Broward County that started counting backwards at 32,000, how many of those machines would have to be in place to reverse the results - that is, take away the 3.5 mil lead to Kerry? Why would the code in ONE machine be written that way and not in any others? And, is this just one or two lines of code in thousands on this machine? Do we have access to the programs for verification purposes?
