Unusual Link.... on Keith Olbermann's Latest Blog Entry
This is not my substantial response to
what Keith O. has reported tonight, but....

This is the generic link to Keith's blog.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240

But there is an unusual perma link on Keith's latest blog entry.
At least there is right now 10:00pmET

It Looks Like This:

• December 27, 2004 | 7:45 p.m. ET

Click it. See where it goes.

Go to Keith's blog
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240
Check it there too.

Tell me I'm not seeing things.

Fintan Dunne, Editor
http://www.BreakForNews.com

P.S.
Don't read anything into this either.
The only adjective I used so far was "unusual."

Obituary
MSNBC editor in chief dies of cancer
By Associated Press
Published January 21, 2004

NEW YORK - Jerry Nachman, the colorful, award-winning journalist who achieved success as editor of the New York Post and went on to become a vice president and host of a news show on MSNBC, has died after a yearlong battle with cancer, officials at the network said Tuesday (Jan. 20, 2004). He was 57.

It's still redirecting me there now at 10:15pmET

Confirm?
Whatever about where it leads,
is everybody seeing that the permalink looks like this:

11. I got to the place about the MSNBC editor
dying of cancer, too.

It is a bit strange that the date stamp goes there.

Probably just a glitch.

12. Technical glitch
The weird link was probably meant to be replaced by some software program at MSNBC, but was not.

Various DNS servers around the internet are resolving the weird URL in different ways. Looks like some people are getting redirected to search pages etc. Do you have some browser search plugin installed? That might do it.

8. just a web software glitch
they mucked up their link creation, the link is a (partial?) path on their system, no doubt to a file that contains the real link or something similar.

21. Thank You Faye.
I'll put down the bottle of psych meds now.

A Keith Olbermann perma link should look like this
one from earlier on today:

• December 27, 2004 | 7:45 p.m.

That clickable perma link should be like this:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6667405/#041227a

It should not look like:
http://msnbc-editor/common/htc/

It should not link to an obit for a senior MSNBC Editor who recently died.

18. The point?
So, are you just noticing this as in "Hey, that's odd in a totally harmless and merely vaguely interesting" sort of way, or is it more of a "There may be a hidden message implied by this unusual item I just noticed" way?

on Keith's page:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240

The Url in the latest blog
perma link, still looks like this:

• December 27, 2004 | 7:45 p.m. ET

And still leads me to:

27. It's a "dead" link that leads to
in my case (Mozilla 1.5) to Netscape Search, which offers a google-type page "search results for 'msnbc-editor'", at the top of which, first match on offer, is the sptimes article you refer to (second match is http://www.indiantelevision.com/headlines/y2k4/jan/jan150.htm - "MUMBAI: Emmy award-winning journalist for MSNBC Jerry Nachman, who spent years in local television news and also edited the New York Post, died of cancer on 20 January at the age of 57.")

IMO, accidental or not, better ... not make much of it.

Considering the title of Keith's blog tonight
Edited on Mon Dec-27-04 11:10 PM by BreakForNews
"Conspiracies theorized, or conspiracies invoked?"

Mebbe it not so unusual after all.

Certainly a good way of invoking a conspiracy theory. lol
Ummmmm.....

After all, given the number of MSNBC senior staff,
odds are that people are going to die all the time.

Like Dick Ebersol not too long ago in that plane crash.

Keith wrote about him:

Here's a great Keith Blog from Nov. 2

Now THAT's A REAL perma link!
