Thank you WilliamPitt thread! |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-28-04 02:32 PM by valis
I've been thinking about HOW to show our gratitude to William Pitt, for his outstanding leadership, his sharp mind, and tireless work in these hard times. Perhaps we could toss around some ideas. Suprise gift in the mail (oh well, now it would not be a suprise anymore)? Flowers? Concert tickets? Does anybody know what he likes?

...of including this image on the frequent occasions that we are thanking Will for something he has done? At least it beats the Marino photo.

16. He could set up a wish list at Amazon.com... |
|
That would cover books for reading and research as well as CDs to soothe the savage beast -- and Will might like them as well as his cat does. Also camera stuff, electronics, all sorts of potentially useful gadgets.
How 'bout it, Will? Or there could be a fund for a particular gadget you could use to help you keep your insane schedule of getting vital information and getting it to where it needs to go. There's got to be something that would help there. Something computerish? A particular kind of recorder?
Come on, Will. You're on the front lines and we want to help.

19. OK, Done. Both vital causes to support. But... |
|
...if there comes a time when you think you could do the job more efficiently or easily with some expensive gadget like a special recorder for making good audio files (I know nothing about this area, so please don't make fun of me) or something else that would assist you in your work -- you know where to come.

i came to DU because my regular board has been down. i would always bring YOUR articles their and other stuff on voting issues or any thing of interest that board and it pleased me to make the visiting freepers crazy. anyway, i couldn't believe YOU A STAR actually posted on a message board. wow. i was with the big time.
scared the heck out of me. but i stayed. cause i need the information and this place has it. and the people are friendly. and you are just like a regular guy. you dont even know how special you are.
how i looked at your site like it was a great place of genius. i am sorry my board is down, it was a place that i could spread the word to so many people but hey it will be up in a few i am sure.
and at least i haven't heard "Roe get over it" in awhile. or "get help you are really not taking this well..maybe you need counseling".
So Will i have to thank you for all the info you have ripped off from your web site.
and its great that you maintained your regular guy status.

Methinks you haven't hung out in the Lounge ever. Of course he drinks! He also hefts a mean can of chef boyardee (sp). He's pretty human overall.
I also agree that he is a stellar writer and a stellar human being.
Thanks Will. The check is in the mail. Not my first and probably not my last to these worthy causes.

On edit: I've actually really appreciated seeing him here on DU. Before that, he was pretty well diefied to me. I still admire him more than almost anyone on the planet but I've gotten to see his more human side. It's good.

met him once as one of his new fans, bought his book, had him autograph it, he spelled my name wrong. Oh, well! LOL
You might have trouble with the coffee thing unless you live in Boston.
What I know of him, I've picked up here. Which means that I know next to nothing about the real him and a lot about his DU persona. I've been a netizen long enough to know that the online persona often has little to do with the real person.

For the information, the optimism, the voice of reason that brings some sanity when people tend to get a bit ... well, hasty, I guess.
I think a new dog would be a nice gift - more specifically, one of MY suddenly high-maintenance dogs. It would be tough to give one away, but to a guy like Will I could do it...

I think the sudden high maint. started when the weather got cold. Now the puppy wants my undivided attention - the mother (my other dog) was always a little neurotic, but the puppy seemed normal until recently. But not THAT high maintenance...hey, Will, want a dog???
