Ohio Recount: Bush Still Wins

Kerry Picks Up 500 Votes

POSTED: 1:45 pm EST December 28, 2004
UPDATED: 2:00 pm EST December 28, 2004

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Ohio's presidential recount is complete and the final outcome is unchanged: President George W. Bush won.

Democrat John Kerry did shave a few hundred votes off Bush's victory in the state. An Associated Press count of all 88 counties' unofficial totals shows Bush beating Kerry by 118,457 votes.

-----------

What kind of headline is this? I don't even believe this is a recount of all the counties but only 3%...am I right?

1. No, you aren't.
It's only a 3% hand recount, but a full machine recount.

It will, of course, be dismissed here in DU, because it doesn't support the theory that Kerry won.

13. Umm right
If you're willing to equate "thinking" with believing any post that indicates Kerry won, while dismissing any evidence to the contrary, then yeah, I suppose you are.

I'm not a Bush supporter, but I'm able to recongnize that ALL of the counting and ALL of the recounting has supported the fact that we didn't win this one. All of it, everywhere.

I'm aware that you've managed to created a spreadsheet to "prove" that Kerry won, but you've been universally wrong in every single prediction for years. So when is Bush "toast" this time?

2. Only 3% and boy was fixed for the correct findings, it was rigged as well

I was a part of the recount in Ohio and they made it look like this but this is not a true 3% at random recount that Ohio law provides. The republicans cheated again to make it look like they won the state but they did not, stolen all the way. They rigged the computers remotely by a modem from which to excess them as well as hinding votes, suppressing voters, many treats were used by Repubs. Low human beings the Repubs, very low.

7. I also saw MSM reports on how the recount cost Ohio
taxpayers over $1, even though GLIB paid the fees. If I were Cobb & the Libertarian, I'd ask for a refund!! Apparently they didn't find any discrepancies between the 3% handcount and machine count, so they didn't have to do a handcount in any of the counties, or they just simply refused to do the handcount. Blackwell is now promising to make it much more difficult to get recounts in the future by third party candidates or anyone for that matter. Once the machine fix is in, it's in, I guess.

3. it is only 3%...
And there are few who believed this partial recount would prove anything. What is important are the filings in Ohio courts. It is impossible to recount a corrupt machines votes. The areas that were recounted were fraught with illegalities. These will come out eventually. All is still well. :D

8. This is a repeat of a question I just asked on another thread.
Keith Olbermann mentioned something in his earlier blog yesterday, about Coshocton County, which was the only county to do a full 100% recount. He said that county picked up an additional 1000 votes, going from about 16,000 to 17,000. Of the 1000 vote pickup, he said they were "evenly split" between * and Kerry.

I'm not real good with math. The county originally went 57% for *, and 42% for Kerry. The additional votes were split, so about 50%-50
%. So I can see the margin went from 15 down to 0.

Are there implications to be drawn from either of these numbers? The 1000 vote pickup being a 6% pickup in total votes, and the very different margin within the 1000 votes?

9. If Kerry picked up 500 votes in 3% of the counts, then the odds
that he'd pick up much more in a full recount warrant said "full recount."

14. Several articles have stated that it's 300 not 500, but if
you hand count the other 97% it would prorate to ~10,000 additional JK votes
