Tell your Senator you absolutely will NOT support him in his next election
Unless he contests the electoral votes from Ohio. Make it clear that you expect him to stand up and do what is right and truthful no matter what pressures he may be feeling in the Washington spin zone. You might even add, you don't even care if Kerry did end up getting some sweet deal from his old Yale Skull and Bones brother Dubya in return for not contesting the election. Just make it perfectly clear, that your Senator will NOT have you and your friends support ever again unless he or she stands up and does the right thing on January 6,2005!

29. I sent Kerry this....SEND THIS TO YOUR SENATORS

Declaration of Intent

As a Member of Congress it is my sworn duty to uphold and defend the US Constitution. Being mindful of that oath, I believe that the single moral tenet on which that document, and therefore the nation, rests is the principle that government power can only be derived from the consent of the governed.

Consequently, the right of the People to have confidence that they are being afforded free and fair elections for their government officials is a right that no other consideration can supersede. A free and fair election is one in which all citizens have been afforded equal access and opportunity to cast their vote and have that vote accurately counted.

I choose to make this declaration at this time because it has now become clear to me that several states have, to this point in time, failed to fully provide for what would generally be regarded as a free and fair election for their citizens. And consequently, they have generated an insufficient level of confidence in their official result.

There can be no arbitrary point in time -- whether it be a date scheduled for appointing electors, electoral voting, or electoral vote counting -- that can limit the right of the People to have their consent justly measured and expressed. An election is a survey not a contest.

With these principles in mind I would urge the duly authorized election officials in each and every state to make every effort -- whether it be ballot recounting, independent auditing, reopening voting, or even judicially-sanctioned statistical adjustment of results -- to assure that their election truly reflects the will of the citizens of their state.

I wish to recognize that efforts are ongoing in some states -- by candidates, election officials, the news media, and citizens groups, through recounts and other means -- to clarify and adjust the official results in order to increase the level of public confidence. These efforts are necessary, however, they cannot be sufficient.

This is true because by far the most disturbing circumstances that have occurred in this election are the confirmed cases of disparate treatment being afforded to certain classes of voters. If systemic barriers to exercising the franchise existed that correlate to a citizen's age, race, religion, gender, socio-economic status, military status, partisan status, absentee status, immigration status, or other identifiable characteristic, the election was neither free and fair, nor lawful in the absence of any corrective remedy being applied.

Therefore, in keeping with my oath of office, I publicly declare my intention to act on January 6th 2005 and object to any presidential electors that I believe to have been unlawfully appointed. To do less would make me complicit with a violation of our shared democratic principles.

I have no intention of so pressuring my Senators. Nor do I believe all the skull and bones conspiracy bullshit. It may be that the election was stolen. I don't know, anymore than you know it was. I'll support or not support my Senators on the aggregate of their votes and actions, not one discrete action.

That is your right.

But it is not your right to tell others what they know and don't know.

I know there were hours-long lines for poor minority voters and none for affluent white voters.

Some of us find this intolerable.

Your mileage may vary.

28. Because it's not Kerry's election -- nor is it "punishment"
It's our country and our election. To allow others to control or not.

And it is certainly not "punishment" to expect a political leader to uphold the sworn duty of their office.

No one is "entitled" to these prominent positions (no matter what the bushkid thinks).

Silence is complicity. And complicity is absolutely "their fault."

Do you imagine anyone outside the beltway actually remembering a failed objection after a month or two? Not likely.

And no Repub is going to "use it against them," thereby reminding the voters of election theft, Farenheit 9-11, and racism. Do you think they're that stupid?

I don't know who you imagine is going to be laughing, but there is no "downside" here.

Standing up on principle (right or wrong) is always perceived as a display of character, not a flaw. As (elected) President Clinton says, "strong and wrong" is always preferred over "weak and right."

Heck, that's how the bushkid gets half his legitimate votes.

This is not a local issue. The failure of a Senator or Rep to uphold their sworn duty violates all our rights.

If you can't be effective, or any more effective, in your state, moveon to a nearby state.

to replace Torricelli who went down in scandalous flames. My other Senator is Corzine who has already announced a run for governor, don't know yet who will run to replace him. Lautenberg is 84 or something, he won't be running again, but, good news is, he's got cajones of steel, and he's been doggin' the Repukes since he took office again. He doesn't give a flying f whether he gets elected again, since he's not running. As far as I can tell, he's got nothing to lose so he'd be a good bet to join with the Congressional protest. I've already written to him, just got back the form letter so far, telling me how interested he was in whatever the f*ck I was writing to him about yada yada. But if he got lots of letters from lots of people out of state and in, he might just think he could go out guns blazing and make a difference. He's a good guy. I think he might do it if we all said pretty please. Couldn't hurt.

Reverend Jesse Jackson writes to PDA base

This email is going to go out within the next hour or so.

From the desk of Reverend Jesse Jackson
December 27, 2004

Dear Progressive Democrat,

I want to express my thanks for everything Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) has done to keep the investigations into tampering and fraud in the 2004 election alive and in the public eye. The work of PDA's grassroots activists helped bring media attention to the election fraud hearings held in Ohio, rallied the House Minority Judiciary Committee to confront the issue of voter fraud, and has forced members of Congress to take the election fraud issue seriously.

I ask you to join in the next wave of election-related actions. We must let the politicians know that we're here, we're watching, and we demand every vote be counted and that every vote count. This is not about whether Bush stole another election, it's about fundamental civil and democratic rights. We must work to change the current system, or we'll continue to have disreputable politicians denying the vote to African Americans, Latinos, youth, and others for years to come.
Please visit the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition website for more information about the upcoming Rallies for Democracy. You may contact George Korn at 740-953-1130 for logistical information.

Additionally, I urge you to go to the PDA website and follow their latest Action Alert which targets a second round of Senators, including John Kerry. In less than 72 hours PDA members were responsible for over 23,000 emails being sent to six U.S. Senators urging at least one of them to join progressive House members in challenging the election results on January 6, 2005. Many of you took the first action. Now we need to contact this second group of Senators as well. Please send this message on to your friends and email lists and ask them to send the action alert also.

Next month we will pause to remember the sacrifice of Dr. Martin Luther King. I ask that you remember him not only in spirit, but in deed. His words ring as true today as ever, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Commit to taking action in the streets as a tribute to his memory. Two historic rallies will be held at the beginning of January. Start the New Year off right and get involved.

Rainbow/PUSH, PDA, UFPJ, the Greens, and other progressive activists are sponsoring a Pro-Democracy Rally in Columbus, Ohio on January 3rd, 2005.

If you can't be there, ask your friends in the area to attend. Encourage them to add their voices to the chorus.

On the 3rd, we will ask our politicians to stand up for democracy. On the 6th we will be there to support them as they do. A massive Pro-Democracy Rally will be held in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2005, with complementary rallies throughout the country. Take a day off for democracy and join with us as we demand an end to separate and unequal elections, to a system that lends itself to manipulation and fraud. Votes are the building blocks of our democracy, and we must not take them for granted.

We seek to do a glorious thing, and we will be triumphant if we stand together.

Keep Hope Alive
Rev. Jesse Jackson
