Maybe we need to work outside the party framework.
So the election was stolen, nobody cares. Nobody who can do anything legally about it, that is.

I'm reminded of the movie "Mississippi Burning." It's about the 3 civil rights workers who were killed in Mississippi, back in the 60's trying to help blacks register to vote.

A line in the movie that stands out goes something like this, "no white jury in the South is going to convict a white man of killing a (n word)."

Just as no republican is going to convict a Republican of stealing this election.

In the movie, the murderers were convicted by the federal government of violating the civil rights of the civil rights workers.

In our case the government stole the election so the government isn't going to convict those who stole the election either.

I think if we want to win an election in the future we have to think outside the box. To make this short, I think we need to work together, freeper and DUer, New Englander and Southerner, Atheist and Fundamentalist. The core values we would work toward is what's good for the country as a whole, or the common good based on our Constitution.

I'm sure this would be like trying to mix fire and water, but if we used people in the professions and developed computer models where we could put in any possible point of view and determine what the future for the country would be, possibly we could get enough people to form a voting block that could defeat what we are facing today. Of course we would have to get into the mainstream media and to do that I think we would have to adopt methods that were used in the civil rights movement and the anti war movement to get the attention. But we would not be democrat or republican but a conglomerate of people who want whats best for the country even though we would completely disagree on some issues.

I probably sound very naive to most of you but these are the thoughts that have come to me since the election.

1. Yep.
That's why we need to work with organizations like DFT and see what ACT and Moveon and all the others are going to do now.

2. There was a party framework?

Famous last words:
"I have no time for those crying in your teacups for stolen elections"

3. At least starting voting in the primaries
That's where the election is won or lost, IMO.

4. Outside the party framework indeed
The Dem. Party has been a huge disappointment to me since the Reagan era. They've been the party of "We won't do as much harm to you as the Repubs. will." I voted for them, but not with a happy heart. And Kerry losing this election highlights the lack of vision and energy of the party as it is now. (And yes, BBV of course had a great deal to do with it, but the point is that for too long Dem pols have been "Repub. Lite.").
I don't know if we should attempt to get freepers and fundies on board--as far as they know, things are going their way, so why would they bother? Also, I personally can't imagine working with them.
