CNN reports "Ohio Recount Over" as headline
Edited on Tue Dec-28-04 11:34 PM by Scout1071
then goes on to say "Well, we can now call the state of Ohio for President Bush. That's right, 8 wks after the election, the Buckeye state has finished it's recount. And Senator Kerry gained 285 votes in the recount, but lost the state to the President by over 118,000 votes. The Kerry campaign said it never excepted the outcome of the election to change, but supported the recount request by two minor party candidates who wanted to make sure every valid vote was counted."

24. Coshocton County only had 100% hand recount.
<http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=204708&mesg_id=204708&page=>

Coshocton County, was the ONLY county
to do a full 100% recount. The rest of the 88 counties were only partial counts of 3% of the vote hand counted.

From origonal post:

KO said that the county picked up an additional 1000 votes, going from about 16,000 to 17,000. Of the 1000 new votes, Keith said they were "evenly split" between Bush and Kerry.

The county originally went 57%-42% for Bush.
The additional 1000 votes were split about 50%-50%.
To be exact, the Bush margin DECLINED by 15 votes in the 1000 added by the recount.

Bush's margin should have INCREASED by 150, based on the 57-42% split.

But instead, it DECLINED by 15. So we can assume Kerry got 508, Bush 493, ignoring 3rd party votes.

***************** VERY STRANGE, VERY STRANGE ************

wiped his forehead and said "Whew...glad that's over!"

30. Yep; surprise , surprise. They noticed it just in time to tell us to rest
assured, as even a recount has proven Bush won fair and square. And heck, the vote totals only changed by about 300 votes out of what, about 3,000,000? Wow, i guess the vote counting was *super* accurate this time!

6. This is the kind of thing that is just SLAUGHTERING us
--the way we get these little, piddling numbers at a time.
The MSM wants this to be over with, and we can only get these tiny number changes in a short time.
There seems in Ohio the potential for MORE NUMBERS over time, but how much more time? How do we get credibility for the idea with MSM that there are big numbers out there, in Ohio, that are enough to turn it around, that are really there? That can really be accessed before the deadlines run out?
For example, there are two separate lines of thought here:
1. It's bad that some people's votes didn't get counted--count those regardless of the outcome. That's a story of sorts, but it can take awhile and has almost no time constraints, since all you have to do is prove over time that a bunch of people didn't get to vote, or that their votes weren't counted and should have been. Even if it doesn't change the outcome. You don't have to worry about the outocme with this one.
2. It's bad that people think Bush carried Ohio, because you know, he didn't really, and we're going to prove it and right away. That's a story, too. It's a much more difficult story, and one with very real time constraints.
If we could for once come up with solid tens of thousands of votes. Even this computer techie story--how many votes would that actually involve? Do we have credible evidence of enough votes affected to turn OH around with that? Or that in combination with Warren County?
You know I really want story 2 to be the story.

7. On whose authority is it over?
The news is on in the other room and the anchor read the above just about verbatim. Of course, they had to add that it cost the tax payers over a million $$.
Who said it was over? The Cobb web site looked as if it had several counties to go.

15. Have people been educating the Media that this recount wasn't real
and that the real issues in Ohio were votes stolen by fraud,
and mistakes due to official malfeasance
and undervotes in punch card counties;
and that none of these were being dealt with in Blackwells recounting of the same votes he counted the first time?????

It seems now its necessary to educate the media about this, and asap.

27. Giddy Brainless Republican Barbie
I was listing to CNN or MSNBC and the little Barbie doll reported, “the recount in Ohio is over and guess what Bush won,” she sounded almost giddy. It was enough to make me want to pick a fight with William Pitts’ cat.

Be sure to look for “Brainless Republican Barbie” coming to a Wall-Mart near you. Don’t forget to check out the new Ken Rove action figure, he can spin Horse Sh** into Diamonds and steal an election with a single laptop.

there in front of the cameras without her pole. Write CNN and tell them to get her a pole. To hell with the news -- CNN hasn't reported that for years. Let the dance begin!
