It is obscene to "celebrate" and spend $ 40 million on January 6th
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 06:50 PM by RaulVB
IMO, the US should join the rest of the world and mourn this tragedy that has "biblical" proportions!

You'll never understand the magnitude of this...

It is pretty much confirmed that we are talking about over 100.000 dead!

2. Are you kidding? They just pulled of the Crime of The Century!
Edited on Wed Dec-29-04 06:55 PM by Atman
They want to PARTAY! A party all that much more sweet on someone else's dime.

This won't be an inauguration. It'll be a Crime Family Gloat Fest. "FUCK YOU, AMERICA! We stole "the people's house" and now we aren't even going to let you in! We're going to force you to watch us party in your stolen house!" It is so typical of the twisted, selfish mentality of the Bush family, including adopted son, Karl.

3. It was going to be $75 million but they cut back to send $35 million
in quake releife.

YES! it is obscene. This is just one more story the media should be covering and they are ignoring.

4. He doesn't care - this is his big party
to rub in his "victory" to his dad and everybody else. It will take a lot of arguing to talk him out of this, even though it's a huge international public relations disaster, not to mention a monumental mistake in spending priorities.

Besides, many in his base aren't eager for him to show signs of even fake compassion, let alone give money, to brown-skinned people who are not "Christians" like them. Why, some of those folks over there are even Muslims! No doubt God is punishing them and they deserve it, right?

And this is all the leadup to the end of the world anyway. Party til the trumpets blow!

Amazing, but there are actually people who believe all this.

5. We'd still have an inauguration if Kerry had been elected.
Yes, hopefully Kerry would contribute more aid, but we'd be having a party nonetheless.

6. As much as I hate saying this...
Kerry would probably have his own money to spend.

9. It's possible to empathize and still celebrate.
Most people wouldn't cancel weddings...or retirement parties...or, say, football games...

We don't have to stop celebrating the good things just because something bad happens.

12. It'd be a "good thing" for us if Kerry won.
It's a "good thing" for the Repubs that Bush won.

Fair's fair.

14. Yes, I realize that some people here believe that, but it doesn't change
the fact that Kerry would be celebrating the inauguration if he had won. That was the question posed in the subject thread.

22. Yeah, that's the new American way.
When the first space shuttle blew up, the country went into mourning for days. When the second space shuttle blew up on re-entry, I thought a basketball game I had planned to go to would be canceled. The people I was going with just laughed, and they were right. Sixty seconds of Boohoo at the stadium followed by "Play Ball!"

My prediction: the next 9/11 will get one day's coverage max. Been there, done that. Time to move on. And who is that Britney going to marry this time around?

MSM tried to make a big deal out of Reagan's merciful departure; but the ratings were poor. And the drawn-out affair went from over-done to ridiculous.

Maybe it's time to join the mob. The Republic is being publicly snuffed on January 20, so let's party.

If something happens to one of the great ones, say a polite "boohoo" and pass the salsa.

Face it, there's no FDR to get sworn in and go directly to work for the people. Those days are long gone.

Life is cheap in BushAmerica.

Let the games begin!

15. How much did Bush cut from the Pell Grants to help the poor...
...pay for college? I understand that 1.5 million young people will be blocked from finding financial assistance with their higher educational needs, while the wealthiest of the wealthy will be dined and schmoozed to the tune of $40 million to celebrate a major victory based on fraud, vote stealing, disenfranchisement of the majority of voters in this country.
