Washington State Democrats re: governor
Dear Friend,

WE HAVE A GOVERNOR!

Today, Secretary of State Sam Reed certifies the final election results. Chris Gregoire is our new governor-elect.

Whatever hysterical attacks the Republicans launch, Chris Gregoire will be sworn in as governor on January 12th and start her work as governor for the people of Washington State.

While we have set our sights forward to a Gregoire administration, Dino Rossi can't seem to see straight. Yesterday, in an act of utter desperation, he called for a new election.

Now, you might expect me, the State Party Chair, to say things like 'sore loser' or 'give it up, Dino.' But I don?t have to.

Why not? Because Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike are already saying it for me. Newspapers that endorsed Rossi have said it's done. Republican auditors across the state agree it's over. The Republican Secretary of State said it is finished.

Senator Rossi himself said 'I trust the voters, not lawyers.' Unless Rossi's changed his mind, it's over.

Last night, in one breath Dino Rossi said a long drawn out process would hurt Washington State, and then asked for a second election.

He says he wants to move Washington forward, but he wants to re-do November 3rd.

He says he wants to spend $4 million of taxpayer money to have a new election because he's upset he lost this one.

Rossi didn't think the election was a "total mess" when he was in the lead. When he was in the legislature he voted for the process we just finished: a machine recount and a hand count to get the final and most accurate results. But now that he is behind he's changed his tune.

This vote have been checked, double checked and triple checked by hundreds of Democratic and Republican observers and counters all across the state.

Dino Rossi calling for a new election is absurd, it's desperate, and it's hypocritical.

Make your voice heard! Write a letter to the editor and tell Dino Rossi and his friends to stop with the nonsense, and join us in moving our state forward!

Today, we have our governor-elect. Thank you for all you have done to make this possible.

Sincerely,

Paul Berendt
Chair of the Washington State Democrats

3. Rossi is a sore loser

4. And who's fault is that?
We're the ones that need to cry "sore loser" and "move on" to repubs who won't accept a loss.

5. Rossi is only continually damaging his own credibility
at this point. If he keeps this crap up not even the Republicans in WA state will want him to run for anything else in the future.

6. Did you see that press conference last night? His only chance was as a
stealth candidate, pretending to be moderate. That press conference blew that cover off.
What a lame ass. I hope he does go for it.
And Christine Gregoire has been professional and gracious through out. Very nice contrast.

Great work! You are an excellent example of democracy. Now if only Ohio and Florida and the rest of America would take notes.
