Ok, this is just totally 100% driving me NUTS.

Dino Rossi just had a press conference where he introduced the parents of a soldier over in Iraq. The soldier didn't get his absentee ballot until 3 days after the election and thinking it was too late, he throws the ballot away. Ooops...overseas (submarine) ballots in King County only need to be recieved by the day before certification (this year Nov 16th) and not postmarked by the 2nd. So, had he sent it in anyway, it would have counted, presuming it was recieved by Nov 16th.

Now of course, the ballot was sent out October 8th and who knows the hell why it took so long for the ballot to get to him and yes it's too bad he didn't get it in time and yes it's TOO FRICKING BAD HE DIDN'T KNOW THE RULES. Ok, so he's a soldier and he is risking his life for our country, true. BUT AGAIN, HE DIDN'T KNOW THE RULES.

Does this sound familiar? Do you rememeber something called "Florida 2000". Remember all the disenfranchised voters who voted with that f'd up butterfly ballot and voted for Buchanan instead of Gore and how the Republicans said "too bad they didn't read the rules" or "if they can't read they shouldn't be allowed to vote" and that kind of crap.

And now THEY are whining over the same exact thing...

1. Remember the military vote?

They did the exact same thing with the military vote then, got illegal military votes counted. Then accused Democrats of not honoring the military. That's what they're trying in WA, they must think they've got 130 military ballots that came in late that they want to count. They're just pushing this guy out there as bait. They'll pretend they've got legal military ballots to count, but they aren't legal. Bastards will stop at nothing.

3. This whole affair just proves the Repubs are hypocrites.

First we have an electtion. Rossi wins, but there are ballots not counted, so we have a recount, and Gregoire wins. It seems pretty simple to me, but Rossi cries fraud, and tries to guilt trip people by exploiting legitimately disenfranchized absentee voters (a soldier, in this case). Does this remind anyone of Ukraine?

The voter threw the ballot away instead of voting.
