FIGHT BUSH or Be Crushed By Him - Lessons For Democrats
Edited on Fri Dec-31-04 05:45 PM by Vinnie From Indy
E.J. Dionne's latest piece in the Wash Post points to the right strategy for Democrats. The DLC's strategy of Republican-Lite will not work. Throwing punches rather than catching punches is a much better strategy to use when confronting the BushCo Empire.

1. Agree 150%!!!!!
We have to give voters something to vote for besides a weakened version of Repug Social Darwinism. We need to prove to voters that we will take a strong stand for what we believe in no matter the cost.

The Repugs are not that popular, the public just doesn't have a real alternative in the Dems right now. So, let's show some backbone, let's don't back down!

3. Senator Dayton has been targeted
"The Republicans have already stated their intentions to govern from the far-right and then to complete their takeover of Congress by defeating me and my Democratic colleagues in 2006. They are just a few Senate victories away from complete, one-party control of our federal government. If they succeed, this will be "our" government no longer.
I am more determined than I have ever been in my life to stand up against their extremist agenda. As the Revolutionary War hero, John Paul Jones, said, "I have not yet begun to fight!" I will continue to oppose the Bush Administration's misconduct of the war in Iraq, its brazen attempt to privatize Social Security, its reckless fiscal policy continuing record deficits, its denial of basic Constitutional and human rights, its handing of environmental protections over to the polluters, and its abandonment of fully-funded public education and quality health care for all Americans. Those are disasters well worth fighting against!"

----

Why would Bu$hco have it in for him?

HE KNOWS...
The non-response of NORAD and lack of defense of the Pentagon on 9-11.

Testimony of Sentor Dayton and an interview with Dr. Bowman (Lt. Col. Ret. USAF) by Micheal Kane. He discusses the war games planned that very morning at the exact time the event occured.

Powerful 15 min....must see imho!

6. Given this,
maybe we can get him to stand up on the 6th. Has anyone contacted him?

2. Until we pry the party from the grip of DLC appeasers
Our strategy will continue to be bending over and saying "thank you sir, may I have another."

4. I hope Dionne is willing to lead the fight
In the past I've found him to be too nice to the opposition. He's the leading liberal columnist for the WP. I hope we can expect more strident columns from him (but I doubt it).

5. Sadly, I Agree.
I think there are only a few telling the truth at his level. I hope he grows a pair and starts swinging.

8. strong words from dionne
he's been pretty meek in the past.
we'll see -- i think he's right in his sentiments.
and as far as dayton is concerned -- no matter who it is -- when republicans go after someone they don't fool around.
they are disciplined and they pull no punches.
seems to me the blue print for success is right in front of the dems noses.

11. Hopefully Some of the Moderate Repub's Will See As Well
With Jeb Bush waiting in the wings does any R-Senator or Governor really believe BushCo. Enterprises will stand by and let the throne go to someone else in '08? Have they not seen the gloves-off reaction to ANYONE, R or D, having unkind words to say about C+ Augustus?

10. Dionne is fed up!
And I'm too!

The DLC must be destroyed as a "voice" within the party and Dionne gets it.

You have to fight without mercy against the regime. Is that simple.

13. I agree
It is like Sean Connery in the movie Capone. We will never win against these guys unless we fight.
