Church Directories! We should have seen it coming.

In hindsight I realize that this is how THEY beat us (besides the black box voting, etc). THEY took those directories and THEY filled the mailboxes of millions of "Christian Conservatives" full of fancy flyers filled with scripture and doublespeak about gay marriage, stem cell research, and every other narrow-minded moral issue they could muster. Then THEY filled the pastors of these churches with the HOLY SPIRIT and sent them forth to witness to their congregations. And the WORD was spread forth unto the RED states and it was good - for THEM.

What would happen to a church's tax-exempt status if this was so?

1. My boss got GOP mailings

and he's a Dem. But he goes to a Southern Baptist church. Bet they gave the Repukes their membership list.

they should be taxed. Besides going after black box voting, we must go after the tax exemptions of Churches that entertain politics.

scriptures from revelations about how the anti-christ would tickle their ears with words they want to hear and how many of god's chosen would be led astray.

i'm not sure if it was self-fulfilling prophecy, or if it is all coming about but i'm scared as hell. armageddon is not far off.

4. Politically impossible. In trying that you would also threaten the

liberal churches. Both sides would be against you on that one. Besides that, most churches have public membership roles. They have to be public as they are legal documents that list who can and can't vote on matters of the church. (That is for those churches that have that type of church gov't.) Nor does the pastor directly endorse any candidate. He simply preaches on sin and the need to stop it. He also encourages the conregation to vote. They can put the two together.

If you're a non-profit organization you should not be getting involved with partisan politics--period.

au.org ... has been on this for months.

Let's financially support them as we can.

I'm a member.

They do fine work, and they will be busier than ever (as if we thought that they could get any busier).

But the Fundies believe we have a theocracy now.
