Hope 2005
Edited on Sat Jan-01-05 04:48 PM by kerrygoddess
We're all waiting with great anticipation for Jan 6. Some of us have hope, some have doubt.

I think the greatest thing that we as Democrats can all do in the next few days and over the next year is hold on to our hope. Whatever the outcome is on Jan 6, I will not loose hope!

Hope 2005
1 January 2005

I am a realist and an optimist. For 2005, I am putting my optimism in the forefront and I am placing Hope on the top of my priorities list. I think, sometimes it is the little things in life that give us hope... A blue jay perched on the ledge by the door, a candle burning in window, the pureness of the year’s first snow; these are all signs that “hope is on the way.”

I ended 2004 with a couple of those little things, lighting up the darkness and giving me hope.

1. As you can see from my username and sig quote, I agree
Without hope, how can the energy and heart and will to keep fighting be found? And without continuing to fight, how can the tide be turned?

A good time, I think to remember something written at a time rather similar to this one:

A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt......If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake.

2. I see...
Thanks for the Jefferson quote. I remember that Elizabeth Edwards posted that here right after the election.

4. I missed it that time, but it's been around a lot recently
Funny how I never saw it until this election. And I do feel better every time I read it.

Happy 2005 to us all.

3. My Hopes are up! Truth Will out!
Every day is a gift of God and I plan on using that gift to make sure that I do something to help people have hope for a legitimate democracy in this country.
If we all try we cannot help but succeed. We are sufficient to make the difference. We did it when we won the election with a liberal senator and we will do it by exposing the fraWd.
Never Give Up! Our Hope WON us the Election! It Will Expose the FraWd!

6. I think we all have to understand
That we've come along way without actually doing much of anything. Sure we've emailed, written letters, researched, participated in meetings and rallies, but we have much more power than that. I think people are hesitant to take the final step until they are absolutely convinced that nothing will be accomplished otherwise. What is the final step? Revolution of course. Hopefully peaceful revelution.

9. this is something that gives me hope
that truth and justice will prevail.

The Concept of ma'at in Kemet

Ma'at is not only a Neter, but a concept. (In order avoid confusion between the Neter and the concepts, a lower case 'm' will denote the concept of ma'at and the upper case 'M' will denote the Neter, Ma'at.)

The Ancient Egyptians did not leave us with a clear concept of the term ma'at. It was a concept that seemed to be understood by all of the Ancient Egyptians, hence it seemed useless to write down something that was understood. However, it seems to be translated (albeit loosely) to:

right, truth, justice, balance,correctness, order

Although the Ancient Egyptians did not give us a clear definition is given of ma'at, they believed that ma'at could not be taught, but that only through living and constantly abiding by ma'at could they realize and fully understand ma'at. In essence, it is only through living ma'at, can one understand ma'at.

"The Truth Will Emerge"

"Truth, crushed to earth, shall rise again, - -
The eternal years of God are hers;
But Error, wounded, writhes in pain,
And dies among his worshippers."

ÊTruth has a way of asserting itself despite all attempts to obscure it.Ê Distortion only serves to derail it for a time.Ê No matter to what lengths we humans may go to obfuscate facts or delude our fellows, truth has a way of squeezing out through the cracks, eventually.

23. Anti-Bush Bracelets
NPR's Talk of the Nation had a show on the various types of bracelets being worn. Most involve charities, but someone did call in about a political bracelet--perhaps the one in the above link.
