Recapture the "morality" issue?
Help straighten me out here.

I have this nagging thought that Clinton's Oval Office antics have damaged our moral standing in the Bible Belt and middle America, for a long time to come.

Any validity to these depressing thoughts?

1. Maybe...but does it really matter??
We need to focus on the states we can actually win in 06 & 08, not what is wrong with us in the states that we cannot win. You don't find the repugs asking why they can't win CA...they make excuses.

2. Depends on what you mean by 'morality'
To those for whom morality is about sex and nothing else (particularly women's sexual behavior), yes. Those of us who think morality includes sanctions against lying, theft and mass murder are SOL.

3. What do I mean?
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 10:12 PM by SHRED
Let me spell it out:
A married President getting a blowjob in the Oval Office.
I hope you can grasp how damaging that was, on many levels, can't you?

I am NOT talking about the "bigger picture" way we think.
I am trying to develop stratagies that will reach new converts to the Democratic ideals and I see Clinton's actions as a roadblock, on a significant level.

4. I don't think so
and maybe it might be a good time to remind people about what morality issues are all about.

First of all the rw is obsessed with sex. Their top voting issues are about sexual issues. They seem not to see morality being a problem in the Iraq War (built on lies and murderous to thousands.)
Morality is not an issue in the fact that people are going without healthcare - some are children and some die.
Morality is not an issue when polluters are allowed to rob citizens of their health.

As Democrats maybe we need to be more explicit about the real moral issues.
