Poll question: Two possible spots for DU Gathering in DC - PLEASE VOTE
...if you're going to be in town for the 6th. The first place:

http://washington.dc.diningguide.net/data/d100312.htm

...came highly recommended. The second:

http://www.rfdwashington.com/

...did as well. I know neither first-hand. My vote would be for the first. You vote, and we will see what we will see.

Next poll: Wednesday or Thursday?

1. Brickskeller has a fine collection of microbrews....
and is in a 'groovy' part of town (22nd and P St, NW... walking distance to both Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan)

PLUS.. you can get out of there without dropping a lot of cash.

18. And they have EXCELLENT wings.
Their sauce is a little different than a traditional buffalo sauce (but still plenty spicy), but they're YUMMY. Best selection of beers in town, too.

Yup, DA's is much closer to the action. DA's is 7 blocks north of PA Ave between the Capitol and the White House. The other one is quite a way NW of the White House. I have one more idea though. "Harry's" at the Hotel Harrington is just 1/2 block north of PA Ave. 436 11th Street, N.W. (corner of 11th & E Streets, N.W.) Washington, DC 20004 Harry's has drinks and great burgers.

By the way, what time are we meeting????

15. count me in
I booked my ticket today for Jan 5th and am looking forward to standing up with all of you on Jan 6th. I'm new to DU and I look forward to meeting you guys. I'm ok for the 5th or 6th, though it sounds the 5th would be more inclusive so that would be better.
Please count me in on this and let me know the best way to connect up with everyone.

17. Invite from Kip H. for DC protesters
Dear state coordinators,

If you are going to Washington DC for the January 6th rally, please accept my personal invitation to attend a special event on the evening of January 5th, 2005.

As part of our "Save Our Votes" MARCH ON WASHINGTON, a continuation of the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery march for voting rights, and on the eve of the Rally in Defense of Democracy to be held at the Federal Capitol in Washington DC at noon on January 6th, we are holding an informal "Save Our Votes" Tent Revival for all activists and interested parties to come together, meet each other, and socialize. We will have a 30'x60' heated tent with overflow capacity in the Park Lodge nearby. Bring your self and your activist friends and associates. Please keep the location of this event confidential to the activist community.

The "Save Our Votes" Tent Revival will be at Cherry Hill Park Campground in College Park, Maryland. The tent flap opens at 7pm.

Please RSVP to myself or Joy Walls at joy@5capitalmarch.com. I hope to see you there!

Best regards,
Kip Humphrey

19. It has to be RFD, and they are from the same owners, but RFD is bigger.
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 02:14 PM by tasteblind
The Brickskeller is great, don't get me wrong, but it is cramped. RFD is HUGE, and while no match for the Brick's beer menu, still has 30 taps and 300 bottles.

I can't stress this enough. A meeting in the Brickskeller will be extremely difficult because of the size of the place. I have wondered how the waitstaff move around because the tables and chairs barely fit.

Edited to note that I've been to both, and RFD is definitely better for our purposes.
