Here's a thought about Senators and Jan. 6th... |
|
If there were going to be any senators standing up with Conyers on the 6th, do you think we would hear about it before then (other than from Conyers). I think if they were going to do this, they would keep tight-lipped about it at least, or dis-informative about it to keep the heat off. Perhaps this is why we aren't hearing anything more.
Enough of us have sent letters and signed petitions and otherwise let our Senators know what they need to do to keep our support. They know if this turns out like 2000, they'll lose support of their base constituency. I think the only reason why any of us forgave any of them for 2000 was because we were all busy this year trying to get Bush out of office. And I would say it is less forgiveness and more forgetting that we did about that incident so many of us learned about in F911 (and I know Gore asked them not to, but hey, it really wasn't his choice).
So perhaps, just perhaps, there is a shred of hope left that all senators (even some moderate republicans who aren't really happy with Bush) will all stand up together to put an end to this nightmare of democracy.
Just my 2 cents and my word of hope. I still think rallying on the 6th is a great idea as well as the 20th.
P.S.
I know the freepers will love this message, but they should look at themselves and how they talk about losing Washington State (or any other seat they lost this year). They too are questioning the validity of the vote, they too are questioning the legitimacy of a win by the opponent. They know Florida was wrong in 2000, but hey, their guy won. It's much easier to forgive a flawed system on the winning side. The only way to have a system everyone can trust is to have an open and transparent election where election officials have nothing to gain from the outcome or the system is setup in a way that they can not affect the outcome. There are solutions for this, but unfortunately, the ONE party in power does not want to implement them.
