I need some help here....its about Sen Kennedy
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 01:38 PM by OKthatsIT
Sen Kennedy will ALWAYS be Senator of Massachusetts. Our state will keep him in place till the day he dies. This is precisely why he should be confronted on his passive stance on the Certification of Electoral Vote.

Please call his office, email him...post on the MAssachusetts Dem Party Blog, http://p221.ezboard.com/fmassachusettsdemocraticpartyfrm3

Kennedy's rationalization and refusal to stand up is intolerable.

Please help to enlighten him!

1. See this: counter arguments specifically for legislator's objections

This just out from The Dean People this morning to counter reasons for not contesting.
Use for faxes, calls, emails.

5. That is not true!
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 01:31 PM by Pacifist Patriot
I once witnessed him cough up an olive. Edited to say, this is actually true. It was at Abici on Cape Cod. Though I can't testify if it was an onion, an olive or an ice cube. He did cough up a drink though. To be fair to the man I also don't know if it was alcoholic or not. He was very gracious when we spoke to him later.

4. I understand your frustration. I have felt it also. But after reading
on DU about all of this recount strategy, I have begun to wonder if there is an undercurrent of activity that is going on about which we know nothing. The party may be leaving things alone and allowing Conyers to lead. I may, of course, be wrong. I frequently am about things, but it is just a feeling I have about this. Everyone knows the election was stolen, and I can't see Democrats doing nothing about it. There is far more proof of fraud in the election of 2004 than 2000. And I also wonder if the media are laying low about it also. Could be my tin hat is too tight. I hope there is something there.

15. I don't think we should EVER just assume something's taken care of...
and do nothing. Those times in my life when I've assumed that stance, I've consistently found out that little had been done by others...and that the issue had fallen-through-the-cracks.

Besides, if we want to win against the Repugs, we have to think like them. Would THEY just assume something was being done by others, and thus do nothing?! Heck NOOOOOO! They always over-plan, and over-recruit their support. We're up against control freaks, and so need to prepare accordingly. Point IS, they're NOT use to Dems having an energized 'base.' So let's get out there, and keep pushing! And WIN!

9. I am preparing a letter for the lovely man now!
I am asking him to consider what JFK and RFK would do if they were alive today. I am also asking him why it takes the violence, riots and marches of the '60's to get my representatives to act. Do they want riots, marches and violence?

I am asking that he prove to me and the nation that his staffers were wrong and he does care about democracy and is not worried about his "political clout".

"Only Senator Kennedy's office was rather negative about it, seeming to indicate that there was no point in challenging, and doing so could cause Democrats to lose political clout, to which we asked, "what clout?" (maybe they meant gout?)

17. I wrote all of the Senators
every single one of them over the weekend, one at a time. I wrote to Democrats and to Republicans. This is my first time doing anything political.

I didn't expect to hear from any of them, I was expressing my thoughts and feelings about Senator Conyer's attempt and urging them to help.

I received one response, from Hillary Clinton, and it was an automated response that said she doesn't read or respond to emails from people who do not live in New York.

Maybe I am naive, my father said she is the best choice for 2008. But I feel that her automated response is insulting. Not one other senator responded in such a way.

Before I get a resentment, I want to ask if anyone else experienced this?

They only respond to those in their own district. It does not, however, mean that they don't take notice of e-mails, faxes and letters addressing universal needs.

34. Writing to Senators
I wrote to every senator individually back on 12/23 to ask them to stand up and object to certifying the electors from Ohio. I got automated responses from a handful and several of those said they don't respond to people outside their state. I still think it does some good to write, because I think they have staffers that keep a tally of the emails they receive, so it's one more in the "please object" column.

It's frustrating to me to live in Ohio, the focus of this fraud (though I believe fraud took place in many states) and have two senators that absolutely don't care.

39. While an automated response is standard, as is
not responding to emails from people who are not constituents, I am surprised to see the "doesn't read" part. The two Senate offices with which I'm familiar read EVERYTHING. Priority is given to constituent mail, but eventually everything is read even if it isn't given a response.

31. Please give an opinion regarding this letter to Senator Kennedy!
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 01:56 PM by bush_is_wacko
I don't want to send this until I get a second opinion!

Dear Senator Ted Kennedy,

I was born on November 22, 1966, three years to the day of your beloved brother’s death. Every year, while I celebrate my birth, I also mourn the death of a man my family loved and respected along with yours. I have always wished I could have lived in the world your brothers, both John and Bobby, could have created. I believe this country would have been a better place if either of them had had the opportunity to fulfill their goals.

I am also a descendant of Oliver Ellsworth. You will recall, I’m sure, that Ellsworth was one of the original framers of our constitution and the third Supreme Court Justice of the United States of America. Although I do not have any political aspirations of my own, I do feel a sense of duty to the country my relative helped create.

I am writing you today to implore you to stand next to your brothers, both John and Bobby, in spirit, on January 6, 2005 and object to the certification of the Ohio electoral votes. I believe with all my heart and soul that your brothers and my relative would be leading the charge to save our Democracy at this juncture in history.

In the immortal words of your brother John, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country,” on January 6th. I have always felt you were destined to find a way to fulfill those words. This is your opportunity!

Most respectfully Yours,

I just thought it was time to confront the one that I think should hear the calling of his ancestors. Politicians aren't perfect. Ted Kennedy certainly is not, but he should feel a sense of duty to this country right now, given the fact that civil rights that his family members died fighting for are being mutilated by the * administration.

(like his brothers?).. He made some big mistakes in college and others since then. But in spite of them he rose to the occasion to be an outstanding senator and advocate for ordinary people.

I think it's perfectly appropriate to ask him to stand up for ordinary people by contesting this election in which their will was subverted.
