Pre-conviction psychological trauma should be confronted and dealt with.
A careful reading of GD04 reveals a number of threads designed to discourage and dissuade advocates of investigating election 2004. Oh no, they might laugh at us! Oh, they might think we're kooks! We'll never win an election if we challenge this one!

On the contrary, we might never win an election if we don't challenge this one.

The right is getting nervous and sending their confederates here to dampen our activism precisely because they're worried about what might come of it. They don't want Bush to have the embarrassment of having his legitimacy questioned in the media. They don't want to think about the consequences if widespread fraud is exposed. Maybe it's time they started meeting with a counselor who cares and is supportive.

Don't buy their BS about conspiracy theories. There is no legitimate reason to disallow a full hand recount of Ohio.

Let the naysayer threads die a natural death.

5. The naysayers aren't the newbies
They are the ones that have been here forever, and on November 3rd were raring to go to find that 2008 nominee. OR raring to go to beat ourselves silly with how wrong we were to be pro-choice, and pro-gay rights.
Or raring to go to bash Kerry. Take your pick.

Then some of us just couldn't accept "reality."

When reality looks like bullcrap I say if it stinks like shit, it's probably shit. Who knows? Maybe it's rose petals.

8. You're right - I was amazed that I had to put some old-timers on ignore
right after the election. But then I had my new years amnesty and cleared my ignore list and see they're still at it.
Not all the old-timers though. :hi:

6. You're right, this is going to get ugly
But we have every RIGHT to Question AND contest this election...the evidence of widespread fraud is there in the numbers that just don't add up...

Thanks for the warning

I think Rove's got his hands full controlling the weather. :eyes:

But some people I've seen around here doth protest a little too much. It's like they're trying too hard, you know? I mean, why would they care if we write our senators?

Just the rolly eyes about the Rove thing, as a joke. Wasn't calling you a freeper.

19. none taken
I know that you are sincere in your opinions and so am I. That does not mean we have to be at odds, just that we have to respect each other's right to disagree.

I am put off this afternoon by the rather condescending attitude of those posters who are insisting that their senators MUST object or they will vote them out of office and the rather silly euphemisms being employed (not by you) for those who disagree with them.

20. Definitely agree about the name-calling.
That doesn't help, and in fact sets us back.

13. You know, the funniest part is the fact that...
...those "'naysayers' and the newbies" as you characterize them, all want to FIGHT those of us who are trying to protect our votes - rather than saying, we disagree with what you're doing but we still support your values as fellow Progressives. No, these folks simply want to fight.

Funny, isn't it?

NGU.

15. I think you have it bass ackwards
Those who want the senators to object have been calling those who do not think it would be appropriate names all day long here and make up new euphemisms by the second. Such cleverness to avoid the "calling out" rule. How shall we ever cope with it?

Do you also think that Ben Nelson is a "cocksucker" like some of the other truly pureminded "Progressives" (funny, the the word "fascist" came to mind and I have no idea why).

16. Don't try to smear me with some idiot's unfortunate choice of words.
Why are "those who do not think it would be appropriate for the senators to object" here in the first place? As someone else asked on this thread, why does it bother some members that some of their allies are contacting their Senators about a matter that's important to them?? Why would our fellow DUers go out of their way to talk down something we're doing?? Huh? Those are not rhetorical questions. Answer me please, since you're all over this forum trying to look smart.

NGU.

23. I suspect there are a few devil's advocates playing the other side
(Absolutely no pun intended!) Stirring up foment from both sides of the aisle is a classic covert tactic designed to instigate division and infighting. It's working. I say we try rising above it and not falling into such an obvious sinkhole.

I'm regarding any kind of "this is the way it is and you suck and the downfall of our party is your fault, you'd better wake up" posts as worthless reading.

But sometimes fun for poking. :hi:
