Statement: Sen Nelson's office says they won't challenge election
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 04:04 PM by rawstory
Statement acquired by RAW STORY -- not posted. (http://rawstory.com)

Brad may know something we don't, but it's not their official line.

"Senator Nelson believes valid concerns have been raised about the conduct of the election, but that no conclusive evidence has been presented to warrant overturning the results. Absent such evidence, Senator Nelson doesn't at this time feel he can support a congressional challenge.

"Meantime, he’s awaiting the findings by several government agencies that are investigating allegations of voter irregularities. And in the upcoming session of Congress, he intends to file legislation to further improve our election process."

3. Are we always supposed to refer to The Brad Blog in the 3rd person?
Just curious. Can we call you Brad or is it essential that we address you as "The Brad Blog"? It is kind of cool to say "The BradBlog" all the time. It is like "The Borg" or like "Jimmy" on that Seinfeld episode where he goes around referring to himself in the third person. Hey! It is kind of like Bob Dole. "Come over here girls, Bob Dole's got a rocket in his pocket!"

4. Relax...
No Senator is going to come out this early in the week and acknowledge that they are going to challenge. Why should they give Rush, O'Reilly, Ingramm, et al. three days to howl about it before it happens?

7. Okay...
But I don't mind if you use the mustard. it'll be hard enough for you to eat without some type of condiment.

12. Awww... The conflict begins.
I am inclined to take no-one's version of the truth at anymore more than face value, but RAW STORY seems to be a bit more balanced and reasonable than some alternatives. Believe? Know? Do I believe or know any of this stuff to be true? No-one's version seems 100% certain at this point. Especially not "The Brad Blog," which seems to be nothing more than a self-promoting online rag. Most of the stories seem to be nothing short of utter rubbish, which promise big results but tend to deliver such in stinking piles of excrement. I encourage everyone to be patient and to not let their emotions get the best of them. I'd also encourage everyone to prepare for the worst and hope for the best this coming Thursday, because either way it ain't going to be pretty.

14. Well said.
I'm trying to stay positive, but the reality is that we don't have confirmation that a Senator will stand up. Are there any "good guys" out there? Where is the Mr. Smith of our age? Where is the Shirley Chisolm? Where is one single Senator with a set of proverbial balls who isn't out for their "career" but for the good of the people?

If one doesn't stand up.....democracy will be seriously jeopardized.

16. Brad Broke the Curtis Story
Are you out of your mind, Bradblog broke the Curtis story with a four page affidavit and was instrumental in getting Conyers to hold the first hearing in Washington and the later hearing in Ohio where Curtis testified under oath about the vote rigging. Bradblog has kept the Curtis story alive and has helped to get Curtis a speaking spot at the rally in DC on the 6th, and helped to arrange for Curtis to meet with Senators all through the day on Jan 5th. Everything that Bradblog has written about this issue has been supported by documents. He did not say that Nelson was going to support Conyers, he said that Nelson's staff wanted him to do so, and that Nelson was looking at everything. Let me tell you that no Senator is going to step up before Thursday. In short, if Bradblog had not been doing his good work, there would not have been any Conyers hearings, no Curtis exclusive, and no serious challenge to the electoral college. Not only has Brad written about this on his blog, he has tirelessly worked 18 hour days behind the scenes with congressional staffers and media types all over to make sure this issue stays alive and credible. In fact, I know for certain that he is one of the handful of key people who kept this issue on the front burner. So you don't know what you're talking about and you display your ignorance on your sleeve by making inflammatory and disparaging remarks about one of the true heros of this issue.
