3. I thought Tubbs-Jones was a Congresswoman? |
|
Maybe it's just a poorly worded sentence about trying to get Boxer to stand up in the Senate though.

Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 09:42 PM by utopiansecretagent
can be either senators or representatives of the house. It's all 'congress'.
2 houses (senate+house)= one congress.
edit:
The legislative branch of the U.S. government that makes the nation’s laws. The U.S. Congress is composed of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Constitution gives Congress "all legislative powers" of the federal government. At the heart of Congress’s lawmaking powers is its "power of the purse," its control over government taxing and spending. The Constitution grants to the Congress a wide range of powers, including the authority to coin money, regulate trade, declare war, and raise and equip military forces. www.pbs.org/democracy/glossary/print.html

18. It's just easier to say congressman/woman |
|
Than Representative from Ohio's 11th district or some such. That's the common accepted usage nowadays.

4. I'm having a very Capra-esque fantasy of |

one by one the democratic Senators standing until they have all risen to their feet. Oh well, it's a thought.

they all head to the bathroom. Not a very Capra-esque thought. but then again, my favorite capra movie was always Lost Horizon, which is about getting the f*ck out of a screwed up, militaristic culture and finding utopia.

10. We have Senators? (using the actual headline) |
|
We have Senators? Monday 03 January 2005 @ 09:10 I am told by David Lytell, who has been lobbying Senators to stand with Conyers that Senator Tubbs-Jones is actively considering standing up, and if she asks Senator Boxer to do the same, Boxer will stand as well.
I have no way to confirm this until tomorrow, but Lytell is giving me the phone numbers I will need to get that confirmation. He seems to think something will pop on this some time tomorrow. I will run this to ground with alacrity when the sun comes up.

She is not a Senator. (On edit: emailed Will)
These are Ohio's Senators:
U.S. Senators from Ohio:
Senator Mike DeWine 202-224-2315 fax 224-6519 E-mail: senator_dewine@dewine.senate.gov
Senator George Voinovich 202-224-3353 fax 228-1382 E-mail: senator_voinovich@voinovich.senate.gov
Maybe it's just me getting tense about January 6, but it seems like our steady solid people are posting wrong, misleading stuff.
Will everybody PUL LEASE take a deep breath and not do that.
