C-span discussion regarding the ethics committee and Tom Delay is making
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 10:54 PM by bush_is_wacko
me think they are ready for a fight on January 6th. They are certainly ready for a fight tomorrow regarding the ethics vote. They are ripping Tom Delay a new one right now! I think they are sending us a message. Maybe wishful thinking, but it sounds loud and clear to me!

1. This may be part of the reason the GOP backed down and didn't
get rid of all the old rules.

4. They never actually said what they will be putting forth tomorrow.
Just that they thought their version should be very bi-partisan. How many times have we all heard that? There is something going on. I think they (the repubs) are a little worried.

2. They backed down because they are very good at
recognizing early on issues that can lose elections. If they change the rules, they are wide open with no defense for all sorts of direct attacks on ethics... which is a really big winning issue.

They're not being ethical by leaving the rules as is, they just realize the buzzword in 2006 would be "ETHICS". They are dictatorial, but they're not stupid. They also know they can't steal elections that are not close. An election with ethics wrapped around their necks would produce elections that are not close.

This is a self-preservation act to keep the current rules, and preserving the GOP majority.

3. My take too...
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 01:18 AM by bush_is_wacko
but C-Span 2 just had the 911 commission on and they look and sound prepared to fight as well tomorrow. Apparently the Republicans deleted and watered down very important parts of that issue too. If this is any indication of what the next four years will be like Bush is TOAST! Unfortunately, I think our government isn't going to get much of anything accomplished if they keep fighting among themselves like this.

On Edit: Looks like C-Span will be veeeerrrry interesting tomorrow.
