McCain Statement On Electorial Fraud

November 02, 2004

Today U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) issued the following statement on the recent election.

"Reports indicate that the presidential election was marred by widespread balloting irregularities, state media bias, government interference against opposition candidates, disruption of campaign events by government authorities, and other problems. government officials abridged the inalienable right of the people to choose their leaders, and they chose raw power over democracy."

Well I guess we can't say "Only in America" any more.

3. That's funny
Yesterday I was looking at an article by a Russian observer who was shocked by what he saw going on here. Wish I'd saved it, it'd make a nice companion piece for McCain's selective blindness.

6. The Media Needs to See This !!
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 03:32 AM by BrightKnight
Given posted date and what is said I can only read it between the lines. If he has something to say I wish that he would say it. I am guessing that if the votergate issue gets legs he is covered and he is likely to offer some support on the downhill side of the issue.

It might be useful if media outlets got a look at this.

5. Shall we make him eat his words?
"Ukrainian officials know that the world is watching, waiting to see if this process will embrace the cornerstones of democracy - free press, freedom of assembly, the right to vote, fair and transparent balloting, and the like. They should also know that choosing to deny the Ukranian people these most basic political rights will carry profound implications."

9. You realize right that he's talking about the Ukraine?
I agree regarding the irony of this but people might attribute him to saying it about the US election and then it's going to look like the Dems were spreading propaganda.

I only say this because I almost didn't go to the link...and yes, granted that would have been MY fault for not verifying the info
BUT I assumed he was talking about our election and I almost blasted this out there to my e-mail lists entitled "Mccain's comments on bush election fraud"

That would have been pretty embarrassing!

14. Is this more than ironic? I see this as bait.
I believe that most people would see this as a bit more than ironic. He would refute this but the damage would have been done. The interviewer would raise concerns about the US election. He would not make statements like this to enrage Democrats. I think that if he was pressed on the issue he might say something helpful. He might respond by saying that the election results were completely valid and that would be damaging. I see this as bait.

I respect some of the things that he has done. I do not approve of what he did in this election. He used his credibility to sell Bush as a moderate. I think that he might want to rebuild some of the credibility that he has lost. I could be wrong.

19. I give him zero credibilty now
I have never cared for his policy ideas and stances very much...
but I thought he was a cut above people like the bush reich and those insidious house managers from the impeachment.

Because he campaigned for Bush this election cycle... I have lost ALL respect.

18. I'm angry too but I don't think that this should be simply dismissed.
If he is confronted with a compelling argument he might say something helpful. If he could pressed on this Carlie Rose would probably be the person to do it. Perhaps a pannel discussion with Blackbox people, concerned Democrats, and Susan Bernecker. The show topic could be election problems.

This might put some real legs on the votergate issue.

21. Oh boy!! This is RICH!!!! LOL!
SoCalDem...evidently the irony is lost on many. I REALLY REALLY appreciate all the work you've done on getting the word out, and McCain's statement should wake up a LOT of people, about how the Ukraine system is AN EXACT MIRROR of what we've been going through here, over the course of the election and subsequent voting irregularities and disenfranchisements.

McCain's words should be plastered all over every newspaper in the country, right along side of all these articles coming out about state/county tallies proving to be TOTALLY MESSED UP over the course of our voting.

Maybe along with an article or two about Sinclair Broadcasting's airing of that anti-Kerry ad, with no time given to the opposition; actually resulting in Sinclair's stock hitting the toilet, and the stockholders taking the CEO to court.

Man....this is so RICH!!!

:kick::kick:
