My mother talked to Ken Salazar about election fraud!!
I have been sending my parents articles since Nov 2. They are both artists, very liberal, and live in DC. My Mom said she was going to a dinner for Ken Salazar, and was going to try and get info to him. I didn't think she really could do it, but fiesty people in their 70s never cease to amaze me. This is an excerpt from her letter:
—Well,
we just came back from a pretty amazing reception for Ken Salazar, the
new senator from Colorado. His brother also got elected to the house of
representatives. We sat at a table with the a couple called Murphy from
there. They did a lot of work to get him elected in an area that is very
republican because it is so rich. He's an old Kennedy man from when
they lived in Chicago. We got to meet both Salazar brothers and I told
them that the most important thing they can do is to give us a new safe
election system and did they know what is going on and how they need to
support the efforts of the judiciary committee. Salazar said he knew we
needed a paper trail in the elections. At the end of the evening as we
were about to leave, I told Daddy that I didn't think he really
understood the problem and told him that I was going back up there and
hand him the article that you sent me and that I had printed out. The
Murphy's were with Salazar and we had our picture taken together and
then I handed him the article and told him that this was terribly
important for him to read or soon there would be no democrat elected.
He took it said he would read it. The two brothers come from a
remarkable family -their white haired mother was there too - there are
8 children who were raised on the farm and they did not have
electricity until 1985. All 8 children finished college! Dad left him
with, "Don't let this place change you" He held out his callused hand
and said, "I can't forget where I came from". We had good feelings
about the brothers and the whole family. His wife will stay in Colorado
because she runs a Dairy Queen.
------------------------------------------------------------
Now I have to find out which article it was!!!

1. Way to go mama!
I tried calling Salazar yesterday and there was no answer in his Wash DC office. I'll call again today. I worked on his campaign etc. so coming on the heels of your mom maybe he'll pay special attention!

2. my theory on Ken Salazar win
There was a lot of speculation about Colorado's election results and comparing the numbers of Salazar to Kerry, etc. My theory is that if the neocons thought they could get away with it, they would have fixed the vote for Coors also. However, since Ken Salazar was the attorney general and could have invetigated they decided against it. (wearing my tinfoil hat!)

I think it's great your parents were able to attend and give him the article. Let us know if you find out which one it was!

3. Good for her! That's what it takes! Grandma Power!
I find it incredible--and truly mystifying--that people whose job it is to get votes don't know what it means--and what it meant in 2004--that Wally O'Dell and H. Ahmanson et al now control our election system with secret, proprietary source code, extremely insecure, hackable computers, and no paper trail.

Do Democrats have fewer brain cells, or what? (--speaking as a 44 year loyal party member).

Of those who live in the privileged DC or state power bubbles, I'm not so surprised. They eat well. They have no worries for the future--big pensions, benefits, opportunities to become millionaires (if they are not already). They have their little fiefdoms and illusions of power in BushWorld U.S.A. I can see some of them just being oblivious.

But a young, new, minority elected official? He thinks not having a paper trail is the only problem? He's not aware of what it means that we DIDN'T HAVE a paper in a third of the country this year? And that we DIDN'T HAVE any control whatsoever of the programming that tabulates our votes? And that there are anomalous numbers all over the country, all favoring Bush (against impossible odds)? And that hundreds of thousands of votes were suppressed or lost in Ohio alone? And that touchscreens changed Kerry votes to Bush votes all day long?

He doesn't know this? He needs to be informed of it by an elderly woman at a victory dinner?

Nothing against Salazar. He's not alone among clueless Democrats. But you really have to wonder about these folks.

5. I too am AMAZED at the ignorance!
How is it possible these elected officials DON'T KNOW? When I read Byrd's book recently, he mentioned that the American people should not assume that congress and the Senate know more then the population does. He says that they do know more about some things, but not much. I saw Ken Salazar on Charlie Rose, and he just parroted the bland party speak when he had a chance to blast Bush's handling of the war. All the Dems are so mild, and "Bi-Partisan"...WHERE has it gotten them. They really are like an abused spouse...

4. A paper trail isn't good enough...
...the GOP committed massive fraud with opti-scan machines. Doesn't do much good to have a paper trail if you need a court order from a Republican judge to pry open the machines and the only ones with the keys are the Republican manufacturers/maintainers.

KILL THE DAMN MACHINES!!!

6. AGREE!
My fear is all we will hear is "Oh my, not enough machines in Ohio!" Lets have touch screens everywhere. "Oh my, undervotes?" Lets have more touch screens. I think we need a big machine genocide.
