when the Repukes cry fraud the MSM listens
Dammit this pisses me off. Front page of the Seattle Post Intelligencer this morning, above the fold:

"Rossi given fresh hope as 'mystery voters' grow
GOP calls on counties to explain a discrepancy of nearly 8,500

By CHRIS McGANN
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER CAPITOL CORRESPONDENT

Thousands of "mystery voters" in the counties of King, Pierce, Snohomish, Clark and Kitsap appear to be Republican Dino Rossi's best prospect for challenging the legitimacy of the closest and most contentious gubernatorial election in the state's history.

The state Republican Party yesterday called on county election officials to explain what the GOP says is a nearly 8,500-vote discrepancy between county vote tallies and the number of people credited with actually voting in the election.

"People ask me what would fraud look like? It would look like this," said state Republican Party Chairman Chris Vance."

7. Everyone in the media is basically well-off
so they have no incentive to challenge anything that matters.

The media is powerful and trivial at the same time.

3. She just has to make it until the 12th
Once she is inaugurated it will be next to impossible to unseat her or contest the election.

Run clock run.

5. maybe they have a point
Hang on a minute folks.

Hwow would we feel if Ohio had something like this? 8500 votes is something like 80 times the winning margin in WA.

It's really bad if there are that many votes without voters. And they did an honest manual count in King, and the elections board is majority-Dem. The GOP couldn't have committed fraud there.

Just making nasty comments isn't an adaquate response. I hope and pray the discrepency is ironed out fast, otherwise our party is really in trouble.

What happens if they find ironclad proof of election fraud by us?

8. How about checking out all the tabulators in Washington,
Ohio, Florida, New Mexico, California, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas, West Virginia.....?

I agree with you. Let's revote the whole country on paper ballots and check the voters against the rolls. Let's do it right now.

9. read the article before you start in, please
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 01:08 PM by oldtime dfl_er
it clearly states "What the GOP says are..." votes without voters. This article gives voice to the GOP's story but that doesn't mean there is any truth in it.

11. Don't you find it the least bit curious that . . .
. . . THEY didn't contest the 8500 "mystery votes" before the third recount? And that County officials say that the number is greatly exaggerated? And that not all are in King County? And that some people signed in and voted by provisional ballot?

12. If I recall there are similar things in Ohio and they were explained
away as the addition of overseas and/or absentee ballots to the regular totals. So if Dino Lossi-man says that's what fraud looks like, he better get his ass to Ohio too.

And again, the "GOP says" is the most worthless qualifier on the fucking planet. The "GOP says" that earning a Purple Heart is worth scorn and ridicule, and that's just as much bullshit as these "lost voter" comments.

10. you pay for it
It would cost the voters of Washington $4 million to revote, and there's no good reason for it except some bellyaching losers.

13. And while were at it, let's re-vote in OHIO also. There's more reason
for concern in OHIO, and more inconsistencies.

Yes, let's re-vote. But let's do it EVERYWHERE there is a question, and not just select a state where the g.o.p. lost.
