"All Americans have embraced the conservative agenda." |
|
Attributed to Bush on the CNN crawl this morning. Did we need any more evidence that this man is delusional? I urge everyone to take up this quote and run with it. Please take time today to send letters to your editor and contact every single one of your senators and congressmen regardless of party affiliation. Webmasters and bloggers get the word out that we're being dismissed out of hand and lumped in with neo-cons. Consider including the following points.
1. Bush will not unite the country by dismissing the contributions of liberals who do not embrace the conservative agenda.
2. Bush fails to acknowledge that more people voted for John Kerry than voted for Ronald Reagan.
3. Bush fails to recognize that more people voted against him than any other sitting president in history.
4. Not a single initiative, referendum, or amendment passed with 100% of the vote.
5. Liberals who cherish the words of our founding fathers which decreed that all men are created equal and granted us the right to privacy believe the conservative agenda is contrary to our rule of law. We elected government officials not deacons, priests and bishops.
I do not want to see him get away with this outrageous comment. We need visibility and voice! Don't be swept under the rug.

remember his quip about a dictatorship being easier?
It wasn't a joke.
These guys are typical authoritarians, their worldview is pretty much the black and white, good and evil, with us/against us, not just in the world but at home, that characterizes fascists. People don't want to see that, they think, fascist=nazi=killing jews, etc. But nazis were just one particular manifestation.
And it seems we have our own minority group that's okay to dehumanize and attack: gays. It's even approved by god...
I tremble for this country, and for the world, under the rule of little, weak men like Bush.

7. And I thought I couldn't get any more ill. Here is what I sent |
|
to my newspaper and congressmen:
On Thursday, November 4, 2004 President Bush uttered a shocking statement when he proclaimed that "all Americans have embraced the conservative agenda." His assertion lends more weight to my concern that the president does not understand the country he has promised to unite and lead. On Tuesday, more Americans voted for Senator John Kerry than had voted for Ronald Reagan. More Americans voted against President Bush than had ever voted against a sitting president in our nation's history. The president turned a blind eye to the fact that no referendum, initiative or amendment in the nation passed with 100% of the vote on election day.
I remind our electorate that the liberal agenda which promotes equal protection under the law, a right to privacy and a separation of church and state is alive and well in America. Our founding fathers can rest easy that a large number of Americans still cherish the words they recorded for posterity in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. On Tuesday we elected government officials to protect and defend our rights under the law. I pray they do not forget the millions of Americans who reject the agenda shamelessly usurped by fundamentalists to the point where it is no longer recognizable as conservative in the traditional definition of the word.

Feel free to send as is to congressmen and senators, but I'd change it a bit if you decide to submit it to a newspaper. If duplicates come up in the system they might be concerned with cribbing and broadcasting.
See below comments about CNN so you can amend to actual quote.

|
I can't find that Bush said that precise statement yesterday, it appears to me that CNN did, as well as an AP article paraphrasing Bush's comments.
CNN is garbage and ought to be avoided anyway.

I've edited my letter to read as follows:
On Friday, November 5, 2004, CNN and the Associated Press reported that President Bush is contending that Americans have embraced the conservative agenda. His assertion lends more weight to my concern that the president does not understand the country he has promised to unite and lead.

18. Oh great - we've abandoned "traditional family roles" - great |
|
Now we can have the government tell us who should be taking out the trash. No wonder they don't want gay marriage - you couldn't just say "The one with boobs does the dishes and the one with a penis mows the lawn AFTER he works a 60 hour week b/c that's the one who also goes out into the world to make money."

8. I think CNN is paraphrasing-he didn't say precisely that |
|
from his speech *And after hundreds of speeches and three debates and interviews and the whole process, where you keep basically saying the same thing over and over again, that when you win, there is a feeling that the people have spoken and embraced your point of view, and that's what I intend to tell the Congress, that I made it clear what I intend to do as the President, now let's work to -- and the people made it clear what they wanted, now let's work together.*
The AP Article "Bush Pledges to Make Changes to Tax Code" says in its opening statement *Contending Americans have embraced his conservative agenda......*
Anyway, I think it's CNN that is making this outrageous comment, and not Bush. Bad enough what he actually did say. Otherwise, if you have a link, I'll stand corrected.

would vote Dem if they did. We might actually have a 60% majority.
That's why the Evil Empire Builders don't want to make it easy to vote.
And why they don't like paper trails, and haven't fixed the Electoral College, or passed Campaign Finance reform, and would allow Swiftboat ads to run ...
And why rest of the civilized world is shocked by this system of 'democracy.'

article way back in the 1980's, said that non-voters in the US are the same folks who make up Labor and Social Democratic parties in Europe.
They get mass left wing political organizations. We get a bunch of disaffected individuals.
